Book Synopsis Metaheuristics for Production Scheduling by : Bassem Jarboui
Download or read book Metaheuristics for Production Scheduling written by Bassem Jarboui and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-06-12 with total page 381 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes the potentialities of metaheuristics for solving production scheduling problems and the relationship between these two fields. For the past several years, there has been an increasing interest in using metaheuristic methods to solve scheduling problems. The main reasons for this are that such problems are generally hard to solve to optimality, as well as the fact that metaheuristics provide very good solutions in a reasonable time. The first part of the book presents eight applications of metaheuristics for solving various mono-objective scheduling problems. The second part is itself split into two, the first section being devoted to five multi-objective problems to which metaheuristics are adapted, while the second tackles various transportation problems related to the organization of production systems. Many real-world applications are presented by the authors, making this an invaluable resource for researchers and students in engineering, economics, mathematics and computer science. Contents 1. An Estimation of Distribution Algorithm for Solving Flow Shop Scheduling Problems with Sequence-dependent Family Setup Times, Mansour Eddaly, Bassem Jarboui, Radhouan Bouabda, Patrick Siarry and Abdelwaheb Rebaï. 2. Download or read book Vehicle Routing written by Paolo Toth and published by SIAM. This book was released on 2014-12-05 with total page 467 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vehicle routing problems, among the most studied in combinatorial optimization, arise in many practical contexts (freight distribution and collection, transportation, garbage collection, newspaper delivery, etc.). Operations researchers have made significant developments in the algorithms for their solution, and Vehicle Routing: Problems, Methods, and Applications, Second Edition reflects these advances. The text of the new edition is either completely new or significantly revised and provides extensive and complete state-of-the-art coverage of vehicle routing by those who have done most of the innovative research in the area; it emphasizes methodology related to specific classes of vehicle routing problems and, since vehicle routing is used as a benchmark for all new solution techniques, contains a complete overview of current solutions to combinatorial optimization problems. It also includes several chapters on important and emerging applications, such as disaster relief and green vehicle routing.

Book Synopsis Métaheuristiques pour l'ordonnancement multicritère et les problèmes de transport by : JARBOUI Bassem
Download or read book Métaheuristiques pour l'ordonnancement multicritère et les problèmes de transport written by JARBOUI Bassem and published by Lavoisier. This book was released on 2013-05-01 with total page 323 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis An Exact Method for Vehicle Routing and Truck Driver Scheduling Problems by : Asvin Goel
Download or read book An Exact Method for Vehicle Routing and Truck Driver Scheduling Problems written by Asvin Goel and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In most developed countries working hours of truck drivers are constrained by hours of service regulations. When optimizing vehicle routes, trucking companies must consider these constraints in order to assure that drivers can comply with the regulations. This paper studies the combined vehicle routing and truck driver scheduling problem (VRTDSP), which generalizes the well-known vehicle-routing problem with time windows by considering working hour constraints. A branch-and-price algorithm for solving the VRTDSP with U.S. hours of service regulations is presented. This is the first algorithm that solves the VRTDSP to proven optimality.

Book Synopsis Modeling for Decision Support in Network-Based Services by : Daniel Dolk
Download or read book Modeling for Decision Support in Network-Based Services written by Daniel Dolk and published by Springer. This book was released on 2012-01-11 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book originated from several recent workshops and related activities conducted by the IFIP Working Group 7.6 on "Optimization-Based Computer Aided Modeling and Design." This group has been active for 20 years with the stated objective of developing ”high-performance computer-aided systems to support modeling, decision analysis, optimization and multi-criteria decision making.” Recently, the group has turned its attention to the application of modeling and optimization to service science, management and engineering (SSME). SSME is still a young research field searching for its theoretical underpinnings, and one which offers many opportunities for analytical modeling to not only advance the understanding, but also to help form the foundation of a new discipline. This book is the result of the group's introductory foray into the application of quantitative modeling to the nascent field of service science with special emphasis on the network aspects of services. The 11 papers presented are grouped into sections on Network Science, Comptational and Analytical Modeling, and Knowledge Science. They showcase the value of modeling in a new and timely context and provide many seeds for further exciting research.
