Book Synopsis Lollypops to Cigarettes by : ABHISHEK @B
Download or read book Lollypops to Cigarettes written by ABHISHEK @B and published by Blue Rose Publishers. This book was released on 2020-10-31 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This story is about Abhinav's 39s years of growing up. About his many "Firsts" such as, first, "stand up on the bench," first school concert, first peek into the girl's toilet, first love, first touch, first kiss, first sex, first vodka, and the first tiff with Dad. It's also about his many "Lasts." Last day in school, last time in the college canteen, last meeting with his first girlfriend, last drink in Oly pub, last lollypop, and his last meeting with Dad. Abhinav, better known as Abhi, is an ordinary man. He grew up well before the millennials hit the world. It looks surprising today, but he grew up without smartphones, What's App, Facebook, Play Stations, Ola cab, or Pay Pals. The gadgets and apps would have changed from then to now, the world would have enriched many folds, but the definition of "growing up" probably remains the same. From an infant to adulthood – the means are different, the destination never changed. The book is about how we all grew every day – from lollypops to cigarettes – a journey we all went through. So similar is our journey with Abhi's and yet so different. If YOU are an ordinary man who grew up in the eighties decade, you can undoubtedly relate yours and Abhi's journey at some corner or the other. So, sit back, relax, and take a walk into your memory lane.

Download or read book The Basic Minimum written by Dale Dorsey and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2012-02-02 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A common presupposition in contemporary moral and political philosophy is that individuals should be provided with some basic threshold of goods, capabilities, or well-being. But if there is such a basic minimum, how should this be understood? Dale Dorsey offers an underexplored answer: that the basic minimum should be characterized not as the achievement of a set of capabilities, or as access to some specified bundle of resources, but as the maintenance of a minimal threshold of human welfare. In addition, Dorsey argues that though political institutions should be committed to the promotion of this minimal threshold, we should reject approaches that seek to cast the basic minimum as a human right. His book will be important for all who are interested in theories of political morality.

Download or read book Beef written by Mat Blackwell and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2016-05-26 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Can an affair be non-physical? Is infidelity really just about meat slapping together? Or is what goes on behind the meat actually more important? 'Beef' is a contemporary satire about love, meat, and infidelity, set in an Australia of the incredibly-near future. It is a multi-generational tale of unseen consequences, and the pressures of leaving a legacy. But most of all, it's the rollicking story of an awkward middle-aged sociophobe's attempts to be a good partner and a good father and a good son, in the context of desperately trying not to have an affair with a wildly attractive psychic... a psychic who insists they are going to end up together, like it or not, because "it's destiny". From one of Australia's most-awarded comedy writers, 'Beef' explores desire and faithfulness in a dystopian future Australia where bizarre cults thrive, where music is advertising, where psychics are out of the closet, and where meat is no longer murder.
Book Synopsis Raggedy Ann in the Deep Deep Woods - Illustrated by Johnny Gruelle by : Johnny Gruelle
Download or read book Raggedy Ann in the Deep Deep Woods - Illustrated by Johnny Gruelle written by Johnny Gruelle and published by Read Books Ltd. This book was released on 2013-04-16 with total page 125 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ‘Raggedy Ann in the Deep Deep Woods’ is written and illustrated by Johnny Gruelle. Gruelle (1880 – 1930), was an American artist and political cartoonist, as well as a children’s book illustrator and author. Raggedy Ann tales have been entertaining children since 1918. The books of 'The Raggedy Ann Series' all feature their central protagonist, with red yarn for hair and a triangle nose - charting her considerable adventures. Gruelle created Raggedy Ann for his daughter, Marcella, when she brought him an old hand-made rag doll. He drew a face on it, and from his bookshelf, pulled a book of poems by James Whitcomb Riley, combining the names of two poems, 'The Raggedy Man' and 'Little Orphant Annie.' From this moment on, the much-loved children's series went from strength to strength. Sought after by collectors, this re-printed edition showcases Gruelle's original text, further enhanced by his wonderful colour drawings, in order that the two may be fully appreciated by young and old alike. Pook Press celebrates the great 'Golden Age of Illustration' in children's classics and fairy tales - a period of unparalleled excellence in book illustration. We publish rare and vintage Golden Age illustrated books, in high-quality colour editions, so that the masterful artwork and story-telling can continue to delight once again.
