Trust me, I too would have wanted the same as Ms. Stupid, but I can't toss away my hard-work of years for a girl. We would have had a beautiful love story had she not been my boss's daughter. Sahana: I know he’s ambitious and doesn't know his heart well. But I'm sure one day Mr. Logical will come to my way of thinking, and we'll have a beautiful life together thereafter. He flirted with her for five days; she waited for him for five years, only to be shattered irrecoverably one day. Logic seems to be winning the battle, until destiny refuses to move on and adamantly brings them face to face again. In life’s moments of struggle and comfort, the heart and mind must join hands to combat. A love story dedicated to the generation that never values what comes easy. Wish a few logics were a little less stupid. But nevertheless… Logically Stupid, That’s Love.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A memoir of a friendship with Michel Foucault that changed the author's life. “I loved Michel as Michel, not as a father. Never did I feel the slightest jealousy or the slightest embitterment or exasperation when it came to him. … I was intensely close to Michel for a full six years, until his death, and I lived in his apartment for close to a year. Today I see that time as the period that changed my life, my cut-off from a fate leading to the precipice. In no specific way I'm grateful to Michel, without knowing for exactly what, for a better life." —from Learning What Love Means In 1978, Mathieu Lindon met Michel Foucault. Lindon was twenty-three years old, part of a small group of jaded but innocent, brilliant, and sexually ambivalent friends who came to know Foucault. At first the nominal caretakers of Foucault's apartment on rue de Vaugirard when he was away, these young friends eventually shared their time, drugs, ambitions, and writings with the older Foucault. Lindon's friend, the late Herve Guibert, was a key figure within this group. The son of the renowned founder of Editions de Minuit, Lindon grew up with Marguerite Duras, Alain Robbe-Grillet, and Samuel Beckett as family friends. Much was expected of him. But, as he writes in this remarkable spiritual autobiography, it was through his friendship with Foucault—who was neither lover nor father but an older friend—that he found the direction that would influence the rest of his life. As Bruce Benderson writes in his introduction, “The book is a collage of free-associated episodes and interpretatons that together compose for the reader a kind of manual about how to love. … As he runs from apartment to apartment, job to job, or lover to lover, the book becomes a story of conversion testifying to an author's radical change of viewpoint, which leads to his invitation into the social world through lessons about love.” A brilliant meditation on friendship, Learning What Loves Means provides an insight into a part of Foucault's life and work that until now, remained unkown. The book won the prestigious Prix Médicis in 2011 when it was published in French.

Book excerpt: The author of the bestselling You Are Not So Smart shares more discoveries about self-delusion and irrational thinking, and gives readers a fighting chance at outsmarting their not-so-smart brains David McRaney’s first book, You Are Not So Smart, evolved from his wildly popular blog of the same name. A mix of popular psychology and trivia, McRaney’s insights have struck a chord with thousands, and his blog--and now podcasts and videos--have become an Internet phenomenon. Like You Are Not So Smart, You Are Now Less Dumb is grounded in the idea that we all believe ourselves to be objective observers of reality--except we’re not. But that’s okay, because our delusions keep us sane. Expanding on this premise, McRaney provides eye-opening analyses of fifteen more ways we fool ourselves every day, including: The Misattribution of Arousal (Environmental factors have a greater affect on our emotional arousal than the person right in front of us) Sunk Cost Fallacy (We will engage in something we don’t enjoy just to make the time or money already invested “worth it”) Deindividuation (Despite our best intentions, we practically disappear when subsumed by a mob mentality) McRaney also reveals the true price of happiness, why Benjamin Franklin was such a badass, and how to avoid falling for our own lies. This smart and highly entertaining book will be wowing readers for years to come.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It all started about ten years ago when I wanted to renew my faith in God. Unsure of all the generated media, talking heads, and constant onslaught of commentary between various Christian and non-Christian groups, I decided to study the Bible and history on my terms. I wanted to know what the Bible actually taught and how Christianity has played out through history. I wanted to put at ease any doubts and concerns that I had regarding many of what I saw as alarming aspects and practices. It is my assumption that the teachings and guidelines of an Omnipotent Creator would have depth, logic, and refined wisdom. These teachings would transcend time and advance society through foresight and reasoning. The teachings of Jesus Christ would be as relevant today as they were then. His teachings would promote unity and understanding that is needed to develop a Christian society. These teachings and guidelines would be constructed to advance not only Christendom but the entire world through knowledge and understanding. In these writing, I will try to show my understanding of Christianity. My perspective requires that logic and morals, and common sense must accommodate the teachings of Jesus Christ and Paul. I will try to do this by using not only scripture but by using our history and present social and economic conditions. In this I will try to show the correlation between how Jesus taught and his concept of Christianity and how to advance social and economic conditions. When you read the teachings of Jesus Christ in the New Testament, you will find the highest degree of moral values, ethics, and civility. Everything about the teachings in the New Testament is set up to propel Christians to work with love, compassion, understanding, empathy, and equality so that society can advance together. Being a Christian is a commitment of dedication to living a life defined by the love of Jesus Christ and his sacrifice to the well-being and salvation of every person who has ever lived. Christianity is a higher level of maturity and dedication of responsibility to living a life free of the destructive influences of this world. This is so that you can better use your time and resources to helping and guiding others that are in need. That is what being a Christian is all about.

Book excerpt: Arguments in favor of abortion are humorously exposed as illogical, by way of compelling (but rather unusual) examples, logical reasoning and historical/legal research. Justifications for abortion which are shot down in this volume are: the 'right' of privacy; the assertion that 'it's my body and I can do what I want with it;' in vitro fertilization; social problems allegedly linked to fertility; the fallacy that unsafe abortions will occur if abortion is not legalized; and more.

Book excerpt: Theo-Logic is the third and crowning part of the great trilogy of the masterwork of theologian Hans Urs von Balthasar, following his first two parts, The Glory of the Lord and Theo-Drama. Theo-Logic is a variation of theology, it being about not so much what man says about God, but what God speaks about Himself. Balthasar does not address the truth about God until he first reflects on the beauty of God (Glory of the Lord). Then he follows with his reflections on the great drama of our salvation and the goodness and mercy of the God who saves us (Theo-Drama). Now, in this work, he is ready to reflect on the truth that God reveals about Himself, which is not something abstract or theoretical, but rather the concrete and mysterious richness of God's being as a personal and loving God.

I didn't know that he would need me more than I thought possible. I never knew being in his life would change me forever. Maybe if I had known I would have done some things differently. Maybe then I wouldn't feel so guilty about the person he had become. All I knew was because of me, he became something different. He was gone. No longer was he just a beta, he was a bad beta, and he was mine. The mate she rejected book 2.

Atheism and Christianity are often placed at polar opposite ends of a spectrum, forever in stark conflict with each other. In The Aesthetics of Atheism, Kutter Callaway and Barry Taylor propose a radical alternative: atheism and theism need each other. In fact, atheism offers profound and necessary theological insights into the heart of Christianity itself. To get at these truths, Callaway and Taylor dive into the aesthetic dimensions of atheism, using everything from Stranger Things to Damien Hirst's controversial sculptures to the music of David Bowie, Nick Cave, and Leonard Cohen. This journey through contemporary culture and its imagination offers readers a deeper understanding of theology, culture, and how to engage faith in a chaotic and complex world where God is present in the most unexpected place: atheism.

Book excerpt: Introducing us to the most famous poems of the Lebanese poet Kahlil Gibran, Osho takes the reader into a mystical world, addressing essential issues in everybody’s life. The famous verse that gives the title to this book is about “love”—but not the ordinary love we know from novels and movies. Speak to us of Love gives a taste of a contemporary mystic at work, trying to disrupt our dreams, illusions, and the state of unconsciousness that prevents us from enjoying life to the fullest. This is about and for the millions of people in the world who have killed their love with their own hands, and who are now miserable. They never wanted to kill it, there was no intention to kill their love, but in their unconsciousness they started possessing. Husbands possess their wives, wives possess their husbands, and parents possess their children. Teachers are trying in every possible way to possess their students. Politicians are trying to possess countries. Religions are trying to possess millions of people and control every aspect their lives. This book shows that life can only thrive in freedom. Love never allows anyone to possess it, because love is our very soul. For Osho, the basis of all our neuroses or psychoses is simple: our souls are not nourished. Love, the basic nourishment, is missing. Osho comprehensively trounces the so-called religious and philosophical approaches to life. All that is of worth is to be found, not in the extraordinary, but in the ordinary; not in fantastical ideas of the “other world” beyond death, but in this very world that we find ourselves in here and now. In short, this book shows that making a simple yet utterly basic shift in our lives will awaken the silence in our beings and bring joy into our every moment.

By examining prior critical approaches to, and interpretations of, her subject, Burns challenges many traditionally accepted views of the poem - such as categorical condemnation of the rebellion of the Ukraine against the Russia of Peter the Great. In turn, and through studies of characterization and narrative and poetic techniques. Burns provides a new interpretation of the "Poltava" in which the poem's meaning may be derived primarily from the unique and unifying organization of its structure." --Book Jacket.
