Book excerpt: The Indian Software industry has been doing consistently well during last few years recording on annual average growth rate of above 50%. India has been the developing world's software leader. The Indian Software industry has already established its credentials in providing high quality solutions to the world. The capability of Indian Software industry is reflected in the very high market capitalization. The Indian software industry has a unique distinction in that most of its output is exported. Despite these high growth rates, India's share in the world software market is very low, but India still enjoys an advantage over some of the other nations, this is due to the fact that India possesses the world's second largest pool of scientific manpower, which is also English speaking. Coupled with the fact that the quality of Indian software is good and manpower cost is relatively low, it provides India a very good opportunity in the world market. For a study of location of business, policy liberalization, high quality software exports to the world, talented manpower and the growth of the software industry, India is the obvious choice of study.

Book excerpt: Project Report from the year 2015 in the subject Business economics - Offline Marketing and Online Marketing, grade: B, University of Bedfordshire, language: English, abstract: This theory into practice report is written on the topic of ‘Identifying certain characteristics of marketing strategy for Indian software development companies in entering Western European market’. Main aim of this report is to identify certain characteristics that would permit Indian software companies to develop successful marketing strategies. It has been analysed that India has managed to hold India dominant position around the world in the software development field. It has been observed that the growth intensity of Indian software development industry is much higher than countries. It seemed to be difficult task for the companies to formulate strategies for entering foreign market for the very first time. And for this purpose these companies would have make several decision during this process. Usually, the process of foreign market entry follows different phases. When a company decides to make entry into foreign market, at a first stage if would have to decide which market shout it have to enter. When the particular market is selected then the company would to analyse that what sort of entry mode will be pursued. And at the last stage, the company would have to follow the operationalising of the market process. It has been learned that currently most of Indian software companies have been focused on providing general software development services rather than products. It has also been ascertained that when Western European companies would decide to outsource their projects/services to Indian software companies then they would intend on the utilisation of an offshore development center. it has been examined that certain problems (like differences in efficiency, meeting quality standards and deadlines) could be faced by the Indian software development companies while entering Western European market. It has been intended that there are six characteristics (lower psychical distance, developing relationships, acquiring knowledge about the target market, maintaining relationships with partners, reducing the price of its marketing offerings and determining its asset investment & risks) of marketing strategy that should be followed by Indian software development companies for making successful entry into the Western European market.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Aimed at key decision makers and those responsible for global strategy, this book is about changing markets and the complexity of undertaking business in a fast paced technological and knowledge based age in a dynamic and strategic context. Trends show a renaissance in entrepreneurial activity that is fuelling innovation particularly in the so called BRIC nations of Brazil, Russia, China and India. For example, both China and India have benefited immensely from Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and as a direct consequence both nation states are reshaping the way global business is conducted and the way investment decisions are made. Evidence would suggest that Europe and the United States are more dependent on the BRIC trading nations for earnings and profits. Geographical distance is no longer a barrier between nations; however, the challenges of ethnic diversity in domestic markets are multiplied by the difficulties of delivering goods and services into global markets with different cultures and languages. This book examines the issues associated with undertaking global business in complex and knowledge related markets. Written by highly knowledgeable and well-respected practitioners and academics in their field Provides practical insight and realistic answers to global and strategic problems Progressive constructs of trends and thoughts to take the reader from the current paradigm to the broader yet application-specific view of global business

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, Sanjaya Baru, one of India’s most respected commentators on political and economic issues, pays close attention to the strategic consequences of India’s increasingly impressive economic performance. The new turn in India's economic policies and performance in the last decade of the twentieth century; the success of Indian enterprise in the post-WTO world; the emergence of a confident professional middle-class; a demonstrated nuclear capability; and the resilience of an open society and an open economy, in the face of multiple and complex challenges, have all shaped India's response to the tectonic shifts in the global balance of power in the post-Cold War era. In this collection of academic essays and newspaper columns, Baru explores the business of diplomacy and the diplomacy of business in a rising India. The role of India's cultural and intellectual 'soft power' in shaping global perceptions of India are examined. The book offers a panoramic view of the geopolitics and the geo-economics of India's recent rise as a free market democracy, and as such will interest both experts and lay readers.

As their respective successes continue to reshape the world's economic landscape, noted Chinese and Indian scholars have studied the two countries' development paths, in particular their rich and diverse experiences in such areas as education, information technology, local entrepreneurship, capital markets, macroeconomic management, foreign direct investment, and state-owned enterprise reforms. Drawing on these studies, ADB has produced a timely collection of lessons learned that serves as a valuable refresher on the challenges and opportunities ahead for developing economies, especially those in Asia and the Pacific.

Book excerpt: The literature on technological change and growth has mainly used econometric models to establish that factors such as the degree of openness, skills, research and development expenditures, number of patents etc. are critical determinants of innovation and its effect on growth. However, this approach fails to explain the role of institutions and policies that created the environment for innovation. Using 10 case studies from developing countries, this book examines how governments fostered technological adaptation through public-private partnerships to develop world-class exporters in high-growth, non-traditional industries.

Childs discusses what you can expect to harvest from your animals—from eggs to milk to meat to wool—based on her own real-life experiences. Whether you want to raise a few chickens for eggs alone, try your hand at a few goats with the aim to make your own cheese, or are looking to sustain your family and make some extra money from raising and selling beef, this is the book for you. Childs offers general information for each breed and animal, from how to get started to what to feed and where to house the animals. This invaluable guide is the perfect first book for anyone interested in starting a backyard barnyard or a small farm—or simply dreaming about the idea.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the 1980s the Marshallian concept of industrial district (ID) became widely popular due to the resurgence of interest in the reasons that make the agglomeration of specialised industries a territorial phenomenon worth being analysed. The analysis of clusters and IDs has often been limited, considering only the local dimension of the created business networks. The external links of these systems have been systematically under-evaluated. This book offers a deep insight into the evolution of these systems and the internal-external mechanism of knowledge circulation and learning. This means that the access to external knowledge (information or R&D cooperative research) or to productive networks (global supply chains) is studied in order to describe how external knowledge is absorbed and how local clusters or districts become global systems. It provides a unified approach; showing that existing capabilities expand when locally embedded knowledge is combined with accessible external knowledge. In this view, external knowledge linkages reduce the danger of cognitive ‘lock-in’ and ‘over-embeddedness’, which may become important obstacles to local learning and innovation when technological trajectories and global economic conditions change. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the most controversial topics in the news is the outsourcing of American jobs to other countries. Outsourced jobs have extended well beyond the manufacturing sector to include white-collar professionals, particularly in information technology, financial services, and customer service. Outsourcing America reveals just how much outsourcing is taking place, what its impact has been and will continue to be, and what can be done about the loss of jobs. More than an exposé, Outsourcing America shows how offshoring is part of the historical economic shift toward globalism and free trade, and demonstrates its impact on individual lives and communities. In addition, the book now features a new chapter on immigration policies and outsourcing, and advice on how individuals can avoid becoming victims of outsourcing. The authors discuss policies that countries like India and China use to attract U.S. industries, and they offer frank recommendations that business and political leaders must consider in order to confront this crisis—and bring more high-paying jobs back to the U.S.A.
