Certain people seem to find a path through life while others struggle. We are all searchers, but some of us have lost the trail and are caught in a dense thicket, uncertain of the way. Ivan Burnell is like a mountain guide, familiar with the terrain, trails and highlights of the area. Although each person's journey is his or her own, he can advise us what equipment and supplies we might need. In this book, he invites us to explore, plan, and set off together with the best start possible. He shows us the way out of the brambles and onto the ridge trail. He helps us lighten our load and prepare for what lies ahead. Most importantly, he helps us open up our minds to a true vision of the universe and to cast off crippling constraints we have acquired.
Book Synopsis Endless Universe by : Paul J. Steinhardt
Download or read book Endless Universe written by Paul J. Steinhardt and published by Crown. This book was released on 2007-05-29 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two world-renowned scientists present an audacious new vision of the cosmos that “steals the thunder from the Big Bang theory.” —Wall Street Journal The Big Bang theory—widely regarded as the leading explanation for the origin of the universe—posits that space and time sprang into being about 14 billion years ago in a hot, expanding fireball of nearly infinite density. Over the last three decades the theory has been repeatedly revised to address such issues as how galaxies and stars first formed and why the expansion of the universe is speeding up today. Furthermore, an explanation has yet to be found for what caused the Big Bang in the first place. In Endless Universe, Paul J. Steinhardt and Neil Turok, both distinguished theoretical physicists, present a bold new cosmology. Steinhardt and Turok “contend that what we think of as the moment of creation was simply part of an infinite cycle of titanic collisions between our universe and a parallel world” (Discover). They recount the remarkable developments in astronomy, particle physics, and superstring theory that form the basis for their groundbreaking “Cyclic Universe” theory. According to this theory, the Big Bang was not the beginning of time but the bridge to a past filled with endlessly repeating cycles of evolution, each accompanied by the creation of new matter and the formation of new galaxies, stars, and planets. Endless Universe provides answers to longstanding problems with the Big Bang model, while offering a provocative new view of both the past and the future of the cosmos. It is a “theory that could solve the cosmic mystery” (USA Today).

Book Synopsis Living in a Mindful Universe by : Eben Alexander
Download or read book Living in a Mindful Universe written by Eben Alexander and published by Rodale Books. This book was released on 2017-10-17 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dr. Eben Alexander, author of international phenomenon Proof of Heaven, shares the next phase of his journey to understand the true nature of consciousness and how to cultivate a state of harmony with the universe and our higher purpose. In 2008, Dr. Eben Alexander’s brain was severely damaged by a devastating case of bacterial meningitis, and he lapsed into a weeklong coma. It was almost certainly a death sentence, but he miraculously survived and brought back with him an astounding story. During those 7 days in coma, he was plunged into the deepest realms of consciousness and came to understand profound truths about the universe we inhabit. What he learned changed everything he knew about the brain, mind, and consciousness and drove him to ask a question confounding the entire scientific community: How do you explain the origins of consciousness if it is not a byproduct of the brain? His challenge relates to a revolutionary shift now underway within our modern scientific understanding. Ultimately, direct experience is key to fully understanding how we are all connected through the binding force of unconditional love and its unlimited power to heal. In Living in a Mindful Universe, the New York Times bestselling author of Proof of Heaven and The Map of Heaven shares his insights into the true nature of consciousness. Embracing his radically new worldview, he began a committed program of personal exploration into nonlocal consciousness. Along the way, he met Karen Newell, who had spent most of her lifetime living the worldview he had only just discovered was possible. Her personal knowledge came from testing various techniques and theories as part of her daily routine. With Living in a Mindful Universe, they teach you how to tap into your greater mind and the power of the heart to facilitate enhancement of healing, relationships, creativity, guidance, and more. Using various modalities related to meditation and mindfulness, you will gain the power to access that infinite source of knowing so vital to us all, ultimately enriching every facet of your life.

Book Synopsis Worlds Without End by : Mary-Jane Rubenstein
Download or read book Worlds Without End written by Mary-Jane Rubenstein and published by Columbia University Press. This book was released on 2014-02-11 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Multiverse” cosmologies imagine our universe as just one of a vast number of others. While this idea has captivated philosophy, religion, and literature for millennia, it is now being considered as a scientific hypothesis—with different models emerging from cosmology, quantum mechanics, and string theory. Beginning with ancient Atomist and Stoic philosophies, Mary-Jane Rubenstein links contemporary models of the multiverse to their forerunners and explores their current emergence. One reason is the so-called fine-tuning of the universe: nature’s constants are so delicately calibrated, it seems they have been set just right to allow life to emerge. For some theologians, these “fine-tunings” are proof of God; for others, “God” is an insufficient explanation. One compelling solution: if all possible worlds exist somewhere, then it is no surprise one of them happens to be suitable for life. Yet this hypothesis replaces God with an equally baffling article of faith: the existence of universes beyond, before, or after our own, eternally generated yet forever inaccessible. In sidestepping metaphysics, multiverse scenarios collide with it, producing their own counter-theological narratives. Rubenstein argues, however, that this interdisciplinary collision provides the condition of its scientific viability, reconfiguring the boundaries among physics, philosophy, and religion.

Book Synopsis Higher Vibrations for Health, Happiness, and Harmony by : Brian Withers
Download or read book Higher Vibrations for Health, Happiness, and Harmony written by Brian Withers and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2015-06-19 with total page 439 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Higher Vibrations for Health, Happiness, and Harmony shows you why your life is the way it is, the good, the bad, and the ugly, and how to take back your power so you can take charge of what happens in your life. What we must realize is that much of our influences in our growing years were unaware of some critical pieces of knowledge about who we are as a complete human being and the power we possess to direct and navigate our life. In the absence of these missing pieces of knowledge, we as a human race have taken on many faulty and limited beliefs about ourselves, and about the way life is to be lived. This has profoundly affected the quality of our life. The missing pieces of knowledge not only connect us with our true power as a human being, but they connect us with the fundamental laws that govern everything in the universe, and empower us to co-create the life of our desires. Without this knowledge, not only is it virtually impossible for any of us to live a complete life of balance and fulfillment, but collectively, we cannot achieve world harmony and peace because we are operating with faulty and limited beliefs. In this book you will find the truth of your power and the natural laws, and how to use those to not only live the life you came to this planet for, but to strongly influence world peace and harmony without lifting a finger. You have that much power within you; you simply need to learn how to use it intentionally.
Book Synopsis The Science of Successful Living by : Raymond Charles Barker
Download or read book The Science of Successful Living written by Raymond Charles Barker and published by DeVorss & Company. This book was released on 2014-08-01 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is successful living a science? Is it luck? Or is successful living a process that starts in your own mind? Dr. Barker writes: The creative power in life is mind. That is its primary quality and its most basic function. The universe is the result of a mathematical thinker, thinking mathematically. . . The universe is actually a mental system. Its primary nature is the process of ideas becoming form. Every fact in your world is also an idea in your mind. To get new things in your world you must have new ideas in your consciousness. Few people do enough abstract thinking to create new ideas in their minds . . . The infiltration of new ideas in the mind is essential to healthy living. You exist in an infinite Mind which offers you an ever expanding variety of ideas. Ideas are seeking to be born in your mind. The ideas to a successful life are there . . . waiting your acknowledgement and direction to be expressed. There's no luck involved. First published in 1957, this updated edition provides a new look and contemporary voice to a prominent and respected New Thought Classic.
