Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A deeply religious work about intellectual choice and the freedom to do what’s good and follow the precepts of the God of Heaven. Living in a Test Tube by L.E. Lee is an inspired treatise that sees the world as a place of testing and formation of intellectual beings into those who would by choice either enter into the golden bliss of heaven or those who by choice are destined for the damnable fires of hell. With no fence straddling, he exemplifies how there are ultimately only two choices one for the good and one for the evil. The choice (or battle) between good and evil is not confined to simple equations, though – rather, the complexity of God´s creation is replicated in a planetary society whose primary God-inspired intellect is man. The Biblical records show how mankind has journeyed through in history making choices and living and dying by them. It also shows the different forces and factors in play throughout the passage of man’s history that influences his choices. Lee clearly delineates this for his readers. Fifteen years ago, L.E. Lee was inspired to write Living in a Test Tube, but because of his experiences with lots of people having only a form of godliness and not holistically wanting to follow God at His Word, like Jonah thought of his preaching, L.E. Lee didn’t think it would do any good either so he left off from completing the book until recently. Also because of his scientific background, he graphically draws upon scientific parallels to biblical references , to reflect the inspirational views of how life here on earth is primarily a test, how the planet Earth is the test tube, how the earth would be a much better environment if God’s way was followed, and what it is that the great God of heaven has in store for those who serve Him. It is the hope and prayer of the author that every person who reads this book will at least engage in deeper spiritual reflection and at most turn with a sincere heart to prepare for what is to come upon this “test tube” called planet Earth.

The birth was hailed as a "miracle" by the world's media, making her instantly famous. Her birth created shockwaves for the church, politicians and the medical profession. Louise grew up at the centre of the debate about the morality of In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) while also being a beacon of hope to millions of childless couples throughout the world. For the first time Louise tells the story of her world changing birth and its impact on her life"--Jacket.

Book excerpt: With over thirty thousand occupations currently in existence, workers today face a bewildering array of careers from which to choose, and upon which to center their lives. But there is more at stake than just a paycheck. For too long, work has driven a wedge between families, dividing husband from wife, father from son, mother from daughter, and family from home. Building something that will last requires a radically different approach than is common or encouraged today. In Durable Trades, Groves uncovers family-centered professions that have endured the worst upheavals in history--including the Industrial Revolution--and continue to thrive today. Through careful research and thoughtful commentary, Groves offers another way forward to those looking for a more durable future. Winner, 2020 Silver Nautilus Award Finalist, 2020 Midwest Book Award

It is also a worldview that not only answers life's basic questions—Where did we come from, and who are we? What has gone wrong with the world? What can we do to fix it?—but also shows us how we should live as a result of those answers. How Now Shall We Live? gives Christians the understanding, the confidence, and the tools to confront the world's bankrupt worldviews and to restore and redeem every aspect of contemporary culture: family, education, ethics, work, law, politics, science, art, music. This book will change every Christian who reads it. It will change the church in the new millennium.

Book excerpt: The birth of the first test tube baby in 1978 focused attention on the sweeping advances in assisted reproductive technology (ART), which is now a multi-billion-dollar business in the United States. Sperm and eggs are bought and sold in a market that has few barriers to its skyrocketing growth. While ART has been an invaluable gift to thousands of people, creating new families, the use of someone else’s genetic material raises complex legal and public policy issues that touch on technological anxiety, eugenics, reproductive autonomy, identity, and family structure. How should the use of gametic material be regulated? Should recipients be able to choose the “best” sperm and eggs? Should a child ever be able to discover the identity of her gamete donor? Who can claim parental rights? Naomi R. Cahn explores these issues and many more in Test Tube Families, noting that although such questions are fundamental to the new reproductive technologies, there are few definitive answers currently provided by the law, ethics, or cultural norms. As a new generation of "donor kids" comes of age, Cahn calls for better regulation of ART, exhorting legal and policy-making communities to cease applying piecemeal laws and instead create legislation that sustains the fertility industry while simultaneously protecting the interests of donors, recipients, and the children that result from successful transfers.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the toxic legacy of Native North America, which is pervasive but largely invisible to most non-Native peoples. Many toxic sites are located in out-of-the-way rural areas largely forgotten by the majority of America, but which nonetheless have supplied its industries with the rudiments of manufacturing for the better part of a century before being closed and cast aside. Thousands of contaminated sites exist in the United States due to dumped, left out, or otherwise improperly managed hazardous waste. These sites include manufacturing facilities, processing plants, landfills, and mining sites. Based on the 1980 Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) cleans up these so-called Superfund sites, of which roughly 40 percent are located in Native country. The book links present-day Native American cultural and economic revival to a fundamental struggle to restore the health of both Native peoples and their homelands. It links past and present with a sense of Native Americans’ perceptions of nature and the sacred land. By doing so, it also provides the majority society with an example to emulate as we emerge, by necessity, from the age of fossil fuels into a sustainable energy paradigm. This makes the book a must-read for students, scholars, and researchers of Native American studies, US politics, environmental studies, public policy, as well as policy-makers interested in a better understanding of the environmental devastation of Native land and its consequences.
