Book excerpt: Readers follow a fun-loving dog, Freddy who gets lost and asks God for friends to guide through his journey. In his travels, he meets faith, grace, and other useful animals that lead him to happiness, helping him reunite with his family. This adorable story teaches children the importance of family and having a relationship with God. The author captures the readers' imagination by maintaining an appropriate child-like voice they can relate to. Freddy's playful innocence and willingness to ask for God's assistance create a character that will entertain many of the readers. Freddy's nightly prayers will set a great example for children to follow as they read this book. The author explains how simple, yet profound prayer is in a casual tone, and children who have never prayed can easily become inspired to become closer to God. The author creatively uses animals to symbolize various traits Freddy prays for. For example, when he is scared and prays for a friend, God sends him faith a coyote, helping him believe in himself. This is an innovative way to show children important values in an original manner. This book was written to speak to the child that is in all of us. It is an amazing thing how animals play such an important role in all our daily lives. My little Dog Freddy is truly a special gift from God's creation. Every day little Freddy puts a smile on my face and reminds me that miracles still and do happen. My prayer is that the pages in this book will truly come alive and be a blessing and inspiration to both the reader and listener. Blessings, Angela Calucag Matthew 19:14 Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not forbid them; for such is the Kingdom of Heaven."

Book excerpt: In the silent aftermath he heard a gurgle of water. He was dusty and dirty from the rock explosion and the splashing of the water beckoned him. Water emerged from an opening high overhead and gently cascaded down the rocks to form a pool. He leaned over and splashed the water over his face letting its refreshing coolness linger. A few drops fell from his hands and formed rings in the water. Sliding his hands down his face he peered into the clear pool. Whats this? At first he thought his eyes played a trick on him and then he looked again. Gradually the entire valley below came into focus as if he possessed the sight of a dragon. He could clearly see every farm down to the trees planted in the orchards! He stepped back and his eyes went to the golden throne elevated above the pool of water. One could sit upon the throne and look into the water surveying the land below. He walked over to admire its workmanship. Gently his long thin fingers touched the markings etched into its massive arms; the same mysterious symbols that covered Stonecaverns walls. The embedded gems sparkled in the fire light invitingly. He stepped onto the stone platform and sat down. It fi t him perfectly. Rubbing his hands over the arm rests he marveled at how seamlessly his gems blended into the gold. Master craftsmanship or dragon power? Either way he felt an unequaled power of transformation radiate from the magnifi cent piece. Could he use this power to transform his thoughts to his evil intent?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In September 1941, I was born in Terre Haute, Indiana. I completed elementary and secondary schools there and then in 1963 graduated with a bachelor of science degree from Indiana State College. After serving as a logistics officer for five years in the military, I worked for Ford Motor Company in Detroit, Michigan, and later for Indiana National Bank in Indianapolis, Indiana. In the 1970s, I earned master of business administration, master of science, and doctorate of philosophy degrees, and since the late 1970s, I have taught classes in economics, statistics, and business administration to undergraduate and graduate students at various American colleges and universities. Besides teaching, I have also authored articles and books about the business, economics, and operations of leagues and their franchises in professional team sports. For activities, I became a reader of Advanced Placement examinations, an investor, and a distance runner. Being a competitive and dedicated athlete, I played varsity baseball and basketball while in high school and college, and performed as an all-star catcher and pitcher in Little League and on championship teams in Babe Ruth and Connie Mack Leagues. At a baseball tryout camp for major league prospects held in Columbus, Ohio, I tried but unfortunately did not play well enough to sign a contract with a professional team. As a student, I usually earned good to excellent grades in many subjects and, in fact, was salutatorian of my class at Gerstmeyer High School. Then I graduated with an accounting degree at Indiana State College (now University), master's degrees at two universities, and a PhD in economics at Georgia State University. To achieve academically at these schools, I disciplined myself to attend lectures, complete all assignments, conscientiously study my notes and textbooks, and maximize scores on examinations and class projects. Indeed, my accomplishments as a student in high school and colleges and universities led to a career in higher education. Between the late 1970s and 2007, I was a teacher and author who taught several types of economics and business administration courses to undergraduate and graduate students at accredited schools in Georgia, Florida, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina. In addition, I was a classroom instructor with the University of Maryland in Germany. The articles I wrote appeared in journals, magazines, and newspapers while my books analyzed the business, economics, finance, and operations of leagues and teams in professional baseball, basketball, football, ice hockey, and soccer. Besides these experiences, I was a captain in the United States Air Force and stationed for one year in South Vietnam. Furthermore, I trained as a long-distance runner, won many age-group awards, and competed in five marathons, including races in Boston and New York City. After 35 years of fulltime teaching, I retired from Pfeiffer University in Charlotte, North Carolina. I currently live in Tega Cay, South Carolina.
