Materials are majorly in Acrylics and Acrylics pens on black paper. I wanted to create a cohesive art book, in which I hope will spark a beautiful world of imagination and dream like galaxies in your head. I tend to imagine my dreams as brush strokes liquidizing in the ether - somewhere in space - in the galaxies we can’t reach. Galaxies are where our dreams are stored, where we all float and swim with our imaginative minds.

One day, they predicted, liquid crystal displays would find a home in clocks, calculators—and maybe even a television that could hang on the wall. Yet the company responsible for producing the first LCDs was unable to capitalize upon its invention. I have been waiting for you.” Yes, colorism. Racism within our own race—we all play a part. I say no matter what shade of chocolate you may be, love yourself, live to be mature, and dream to succeed and achieve everything your little heart desires. Unfairness or jealousy and looking down upon someone for whatever reasons and sometimes no reasons at all, just because who you look like or who you belong to—this syndrome is taught and learned and follows that little girl black or little boy black for generations. I say to all of you bullies and dream-stealers, shame on you. You need to check yourself!

It engages an interpretive sociology, emphasising the medial and individual everyday practices of medicalisation, and their role in establishing and diffusing conceptions of mental (ab)normality. The reconstruction of psychiatric narratives is currently taking place in multiple contexts, many of which are no longer strictly psychiatric. On the one hand, psychiatric narratives now pervade contemporary public discourses and institutions though advertising, news and internet sites. On the other hand, professionals like social workers, teachers, counsellors, disability advisors, lawyers, nurses and/or health insurance staff dealing with psychiatric narratives are becoming servants of the psychiatric discourse within “troubled person’s industries”. Abstract academic categories get turned into concrete aggrieved victims of these categorisations and academic formulas turned into individual narratives. To receive support it seems, one must be labelled. The practice-oriented micro-sociological field with which this volume is concerned has only recently begun to integrate itself into public and academic debates regarding medicalisation and the social role of psychiatry. Discussions on the evolution and expansion of official diagnoses within academia, and society in general, frequently overlook the individualised roles of psychiatric diagnoses and the experiences of those involved and affected by these processes, an oversight which this volume seeks to both highlight and address.
