Or, évoluer dans un monde de silence sans modèle oral avec comme langue maternelle la langue des signes n'est pas anodin. Ainsi, ce mémoire s'est intéressé à la parole, au langage et à l'utilisation sociale du langage de 6 enfants entendants âgés de 3 ans à 6 ans nés de parents sourds signants. Dans cette optique, les enfants ont effectué les épreuves de l'ELO et leurs compétences pragmatiques ont été évaluées par leurs professeurs des écoles grâce à la grille de Tatershall, précédemment étalonnée de la PSM au CP. L'analyse quantitative et qualitative des résultats a mis en évidence que deux enfants présentent un retard de parole et de langage et que 4 enfants présentent une fragilité dans l'utilisation des capacités pragmatiques. Ces résultats sont ensuite confrontés à la littérature et leur apport est discuté. Cette étude s'achève par l'intérêt des résultats à réaliser un accompagnement parental dans le but de réduire ou d'éviter retards langagiers, troubles de la pragmatique et difficultés psycho affectives.

L’intérêt est porté également sur la surdité des parents, le mode de communication qu’ils peuvent employer et les conséquences sur le développement de leur enfant. Comment va se mettre en place le langage oral de cet enfant vivant entre deux modes de communication, oral et gestuel ? Nous nous sommes intéressée particulièrement à quatre jeunes enfants nés de parents sourds profonds. Chaque famille a ses particularités et a fait les choix qui lui semblaient les mieux adaptés pour le développement de leur enfant, en favorisant certaines situations, comme par exemple, le mode de garde de l’enfant. De ce fait, les rencontres avec les familles ont été très intéressantes, et ont montré également que les parents n’imaginent pas de difficultés de langage possible chez leur enfant entendant. Les bilans réalisés ont démontré le contraire, avec des retards de langage possibles, voire importants. Ce travail rappelle l’importance d’une communication non seulement précoce et adaptée à l’enfant, mais également en lien avec le monde environnant dans lequel l’enfant va se développer.
