Ils ont un rôle primordial dans la prévention et l'interception de problèmes bucco-dentaires dès le plus jeune âge. Nous avons souhaité réaliser un état des lieux de leurs connaissances en odontologie pédiatrique et recenser les différents types de formations dispensées pendant leurs études. Ceci grâce à l'envoi d'un questionnaire. Ce travail a mis en évidence une prise en charge des pathologies bucco-dentaires satisfaisante. Cependant les connaissances dans le domaine de la prévention semblent insuffisantes, notamment concernant l'hygiène bucco-dentaire, l'utilisation du fluor ou l'âge de la première visite chez le dentiste. Ces méconnaissances semblent venir d'un manque d'enseignement lors de leur formation initiale ainsi que lors de leur externat. Ils expriment, pour la plupart, une volonté de se former plus amplement sur le sujet. La mise en place d'une formation complémentaire et la réalisation d'un guide de recommandations chez l'enfant, pourraient les éclairer dans leur pratique.
