Book Synopsis Light Agricultural and Industrial Structures by : G. Nelson
Download or read book Light Agricultural and Industrial Structures written by G. Nelson and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 559 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an outgrowth of a much earlier book, Farm Structures, by H. J. Barre and L. L. Sammet, published by John Wiley & Sons in 1950 as one of a series of textbooks in agricultural engineering spon sored by the Ferguson Foundation, Detroit, Michigan. Light Agricul tural and Industrial Structures: Analysis and Design will be useful as an undergraduate student textbook for junior-or senior-level compre hensive courses on structural analysis and design in steel, wood, and concrete, and as a reference work for practicing engineers. Emphasis is on basic analysis and design procedures. The book should be useful in any country where there is a need to design structures for agricul tural production and processing. It is assumed that readers have had prerequisite course work in engineering mechanics and strength of materials as typically taught to undergraduate engineering students. The scope of this book is wide; it might be difficult for instructors and students to cover all of the chapters in a typical three credit-hour course. The instructor will need to assess his own situation and scheduling constraints. More or less time could be spent on chapters one through five, depending on the capability the students already have in analysis of statically deter minate and indeterminate structures. Two to three weeks might then be allocated for study of each of the last six chapters dealing with design in steel, reinforced concrete, and wood.

This book was released on 2011-01-01 with total page 481 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This book is an effort by FAO to compile an up-to-date, comprehensive text on rural structures and services in the tropics, focusing on structures for small- to medium-scale farms and, to some extent, village-scale agricultural infrastructure. The earlier edition, entitled Farm structures in tropical climates: a textbook for structural engineering and design, published in 1986, has been used for over two decades as a standard textbook for teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses on rural structures and services in universities throughout sub-Saharan Africa. This second edition will help to improve teaching - at all educational levels - on the subject of rural buildings in developing countries in the tropics and it will assist professionals currently engaged in providing technical advice on rural structures and services, from either agricultural extension departments or non-governmental rural development organizations. This book will also provide technical guidance in the context of disaster recovery and rehabilitation, for rebuilding the sound rural structures and related services that are key to development and economic sustainability. While this book is intended primarily for teaching university - and college-level agricultural engineering students about rural structures and services, resources might be made available to produced textbooks based on this material for teaching at other educational levels. Although parts of the background material relate specifically to East and Southeast Africa, the book's principles apply to the whole of tropical Africa, Latin America and South Asia because, while building traditions may vary, the available materials are similar."--Back cover.
Book Synopsis Regional Development and Its Spatial Structure by : Dadao Lu

Book excerpt: Zusammenfassung: This book describes the progress and prominent theories of regional development research in the past decades, especially in the past decade, discusses the industrial structure, spatial structure, resources, and environment, as well as a series of practical issues, and reveals the general characteristics of spatial structure evolution in the process of regional development. The research on the issues of regional development has become the frontier of relevant disciplines since the 1950s, and much progress has been made in the process of solving practical problems in social and economic development. This book provides an in-depth and systematic demonstration of the "point-axis system" theory of regional exploitation and development as well as the T-shaped structure of China's regional economic action in theory and practice and discusses the impact of location differential rent, restricted accessibility, technological innovation, etc., on regional development theoretically. This book is used as a reference for planning, scientific research, and teaching personnel in territorial expansion, regional economy, human geography, etc

Book Synopsis Structure and Changes of China’s Financial System by : Jie Zhang
Download or read book Structure and Changes of China’s Financial System written by Jie Zhang and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-05-11 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By virtue of several theoretical models and hypotheses, this book is one of the earliest studies which systematically investigates the structure and changes of China’s financial institutions. To begin with, it examines the relation between state utility function and China’s economic growth, and reveals the formation and transition of China’s state-owned financial institutional arrangements. Based on this analysis, the author studies the influence of monetization on the arrangements, and the financial support to China’s gradual reform which have long been neglected by researchers. Also, the model of money demand that can explain the specific conditions of the gradual reform is built, as the neoclassical framework has been incapable of explaining China’s financial performance. In the last chapter, it discusses the dilemma of property rights under the state-owned financial system, with the establishment of the credit equilibrium model and the dual model of bad debts. With insightful theoretical analysis and empirical researches, this book will appeal to scholars and students in finance, economics and economic history.
