Book excerpt: Colin Jackson is one of the greatest athletes that Britain has ever produced. He was in the world top ten for 16 years, and was world number 1 for two of them. He set seven European and Commonwealth and nine UK records, and he still holds the world record for indoor hurdling. In 2003 Colin retired from athletics in front of an adoring home crowd. Then real life began. In Life’s New Hurdles Colin describes the shock of adjusting to sudden change. How would he manage without the strict routine of training and competing that had been his life since the age of 17? Would he forever long to be back on the track? And how satisfying would his new career be as a sports presenter and television personality? From athletics commentating to Strictly Come Dancing, Colin describes the challenges and joys of starting a whole new life.

Book excerpt: Over It is a high-octane dose of encouragement, storytelling, and hard-won advice from Lolo Jones, three-time Olympian and world champion hurdler and bobsledder. Lolo is perhaps better known today not for all the races she’s won but for the millisecond mistake that cost her an Olympic gold medal over a decade ago. With stunning authenticity about her own struggles, longings, and losses, she shows us how to face our challenges head-on and keep working to overcome them. Lolo challenges us to: handle failure while pursuing our dreams; recognize the difference between achieving a goal and experiencing success; turn our most painful moments into the most successful; use thankfulness and faith to develop healthy hindsight; and give and receive forgiveness as the path back to life. Growing up in a broken home, Lolo learned to shoplift at a young age just to eat at night and sometimes slept on the basement floor of the Salvation Army. While her father was in prison, her mother worked multiple jobs, and Lolo realized she needed to be self-motivated, singularly focused, and unwilling to quit if she wanted to succeed. Reflecting on her own challenging spiritual journey, Lolo invites us to rest in God who can make all the difference in overcoming obstacles with both strength and joy.

Every form of mistreatment an individual faces is a form of hurdle posing an abuse, oppression, limitation and bondage every true believer must overcome. Many people are suffering in silence thinking that things will get better but the more they try to overcome one hurdle, the more they see more hurdles ahead of them to overcome. This book is based on a personal life experience of hurdles and how the author overcame them. You will discover from this inspiring book 1.How to depend on God for His grace and strength to overcome some hurdle of life that pose limitation to your destiny 2.How to take the steps of faith in pursing your sure destiny regardless of hurdles of life. 3.How to let go of past hurts, resentment, bitterness and disappointment and letting God take over your destiny. Perhaps you have given up on yourself because nobody believed in you, trusted you again, or written you off from successful ventures. It does not matter how terrible your background was. Your future is brighter than you think. There were biblical characters like Jacob, Peter, Jonah, Noah, Paul, Martha, Gideon, Miriam, Thomas, Sarah, Elijah, Moses, Zaccheus, Abraham, Lazarus. They had their faults, they encounter hurdles too and God use them for his purpose in fulfilling there destiny. What's your excuse? Can GOD use you or not? God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called! Overcome the hurdles you now face. Nobody can stop you from getting to your destiny except you. God will definitely give you a Tomorrow that will surely make you forget your Yesterday. Let Go and let God take over.Be a leader not a follower. God already know your destiny and at times He will allow the devil to take control so we can come to terms with our disobedient and guilt and acknowledge that there is one God and there is nothing greater.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For years, I was a proud employee of General Motors. I loved my work as a Journeyman Electrician. Unfortunately, my work was transformed into a horror story when I was assigned to Pontiac Assembly Center. There, I was routinely bullied, harassed, and threatened by co-workers and supervisors. When I asked GM management for help, they responded by aligning themselves with my persecutors. I was threatened with physical violence, stalked, denied safety rights, forced to do work others were unwilling to do, and refused medical treatment. I was removed from a coveted job by a Superintendent, who cited my MS condition, blatantly ignoring rights afforded under ADA. I was called "Black Nigger Bitch". There were pictures posted about the plant, where I was depicted as "ROADKILL". KKK style nooses were hung in the plant. A General Foreman pressed his face close to mine and said, "I can't promise you you're going to live the next few minutes." I next turned to the justice system for help. When my case went before a Circuit Court Judge, he swiftly and willfully granted summary disposition judgments in GM's favor. Undaunted, I began my own investigation. In doing so, I discovered that 108 pages of my deposition had disappeared. I uncovered a letter from a GM executive threatening a union official who planned on helping me. My lawyer lied to me about having filed an appeal. Where is the justice when a court of law condones this as acceptable behavior in a civilized society? How can America hold itself out as a free and just society that other countries would choose to emulate? Should corporate entities such as GM be allowed to not only bend the law, but to break the law? How and why could such travesty have been allowed to occur?
