Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For years, I was a proud employee of General Motors. I loved my work as a Journeyman Electrician. Unfortunately, my work was transformed into a horror story when I was assigned to Pontiac Assembly Center. There, I was routinely bullied, harassed, and threatened by co-workers and supervisors. When I asked GM management for help, they responded by aligning themselves with my persecutors. I was threatened with physical violence, stalked, denied safety rights, forced to do work others were unwilling to do, and refused medical treatment. I was removed from a coveted job by a Superintendent, who cited my MS condition, blatantly ignoring rights afforded under ADA. I was called "Black Nigger Bitch". There were pictures posted about the plant, where I was depicted as "ROADKILL". KKK style nooses were hung in the plant. A General Foreman pressed his face close to mine and said, "I can't promise you you're going to live the next few minutes." I next turned to the justice system for help. When my case went before a Circuit Court Judge, he swiftly and willfully granted summary disposition judgments in GM's favor. Undaunted, I began my own investigation. In doing so, I discovered that 108 pages of my deposition had disappeared. I uncovered a letter from a GM executive threatening a union official who planned on helping me. My lawyer lied to me about having filed an appeal. Where is the justice when a court of law condones this as acceptable behavior in a civilized society? How can America hold itself out as a free and just society that other countries would choose to emulate? Should corporate entities such as GM be allowed to not only bend the law, but to break the law? How and why could such travesty have been allowed to occur?

Book excerpt: Life’s Journey through the Bumps is a spiritual and inspirational journey that the author has shared with hope that it helps others traveling that long journey that loss creates. “Loss is a brokenness that only those that have suffered a loss can relate to. It is a long journey on a winding road with bumps and turns.” Expressing grief through poetry has been her therapeutic way to help herself but also to reach out to others online and within the community. One can relate to the stages of grief and loss that she has encountered and how she dealt with those situations. Life is like a winding road with no end in sight and many bumps along the way. May you find strength in your journey and find peace in your heart. “Life is full of challenges that we alone must face. Times when we will struggle to wake to face the day. Times that faith and courage is tested, our pain to erase. Times we must accept the bumps will go away. We can’t change the tragic events that occurred in our past, What happened was not our doing, nor our ability to be undone. We can only face life strongly and not let depression last. Help is available as you are not alone, reach out to someone.”.... (excerpt from “Just Around the Bend”)

Book excerpt: This book, Addiction to Recovery: Unlocking Your Potential, is an accumulation of existential realization, many resources, years of recovery, education, insights, and years working in the field of addiction, with all adepts in the goal of personal transformation from addiction to recovery. This is an integrative approach to living in wellness of recovery. I vacated my own mind through deep personal process, my own form of meditation, and this book came about. My hope is this book unlocks the potential that advances new insight into the recovery process for each individual by reframing the process in such a way that the right interpretation by the reader will help recovery click into place. What we need to celebrate in recovery is the self-discovery of the individual. I offer my carefully considered overviews and assessments on the best-known treatments (theories) connected to recovery. I have provided a new outlook as a guide for the unwary who had failed at recovery in the past and those just coming into recovery for the first time. I count myself among the autodidacts, the self-taught perpetual student fueled by a passion for new answers and a sense of mission.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Authors from eighteen countries give us their perspectives on biblical principles and cultural expressions of spirituality particularly as the church engages in God’s mission. The anthology of texts enriches our understanding of the depth and the meaning of being spiritual and the diversity of forms to live out the Christian faith. The issue today is how spirituality should direct and guide a daily life as followers of Jesus in the engagement in the mission of God. No doubt that it has to do with our inner life and our relationship to God, but it is in showing our love and concern to others that we prove our love to God, according to the Apostle John (1 John 4). Mission without spirituality will only be a human effort to convince people of religious theories. Spirituality without a missionary involvement of the church will not express God’s desire that the transforming gospel reaches every person. This book will help you rethink your understanding of what is spiritual, revisit your own spiritual journey, and appreciate the different forms of spirituality as they are described and performed around the globe.

Book excerpt: Beyond Madagascar is the true story of the remarkable life journey of a missionary's son born and raised in Madagascar in the late 1920s. Alone, at age 15, he sailed on a freighter to America to continue his studies. The foundation of the world he knew as a child, carried him beyond Madagascar and into a world of adventure. His story is the stuff dreams are woven from: international travel, jungle experiences, safaris with his father, boarding school antics, military service, Counter Intelligence Corps and eventually global mission outreach. He was in the Army for ten years and after becoming a pastor, was involved in various aspects of Christian ministry for over 30 years. His book is filled with humor and compassion, colorful antics and deep pain, all the while conveying a message of hope as he was guided by God's constant presence. His story reminds us that God is always there, waiting, listening and ready to be a part of our life's journey

Book excerpt: Be Fearless is researched-based call to action for those seeking to live extraordinary lives and bring about transformational change. LOS ANGELES TIMES BESTSELLER * NATIONAL BESTSELLER Weaving together storytelling, practical tips and inspiration, the book will teach you how to put the five fearless principles to work so that you too can spark the sorts of remarkable breakthroughs that can impact the world. Philanthropist, investor, and technology pioneer Jean Case brings to life the five Be Fearless principles common to the people and organizations that bring about transformational change. When National Geographic Chairman Jean Case set out to investigate the core qualities of great change makers, past and present, from inventors to revolutionaries, she found five surprising traits they all had in common. These weren’t wealth, privilege, or even genius. What all of these exceptional men and women shared was that they had chosen to make a “big bet,” take bold risks, learn from their failures, reach beyond their bubbles, and let urgency conquer fear. Throughout Be Fearless, Jean vividly illustrates these principles through storytelling—from her own transformational life experiences, to Jane Goodall’s remarkable breakthroughs in understanding and protecting chimpanzees, to celebrity chef José Andrés’ decision to be a “first responder” and take his kitchen to the sites of devastating hurricanes to feed the hungry, to Madame C.J. Walker’s vision to build a hair care empire that would employ thousands across the country, and more. She shares new insights to stories you might think you know—like Airbnb’s tale of starting from scratch to transform the hospitality industry, to John F. Kennedy’s history-making moonshot—and gems from changemakers you’ve never heard of. Be Fearless features a compelling foreword from Jane Goodall saying “there is no time in history when it has been more important to Be Fearless” and a new afterword with stories of people inspired to take action after reading the book.

Book excerpt: Is it possible to find peace in your life? If so, where and how is that sense of peace found? Are we missing out on finding true peace because it is much simpler than we imagine it to be? In Life is Simple author Ken Freschi continues to share the channeled messages he has received since 2009. Life is Simple is a continuation of his first two books, Our Walk to Eternity and Time to Listen, bringing clarity and a new perspective concerning events in everyone’s life. Life is Simple will guide us to the realization that contained in each and every event in our life, a message, a Divine message, is contained for our soul to grasp on to in order to find our purpose. Our presence here and all our experiences are not random. Instead, a Divinely choreographed set of circumstances are placed before us to give us the experience our soul has sought. To find the simplicity of life, we are challenged to look beyond our three dimensional existence, and we must explore deeply who and what we truly are.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "It is not what you know, but who you know that counts." This old cliche is as true today as it was when it was first uttered. According to a recent survey conducted by Drake Beam Morin, Inc. (a large outplacement organization), networking fills 70 percent of professional positions. Networking for a job is the best way to tap into the unpublished job market. NETLIVING 101, Networking Life's Journey reaches beyond the job market into all aspects of life from the womb to the tomb. Hence the word networking is replaced by my newly coined word netliving . There is currently no book, as indicated by reviewing Books in Print ,that shows people how to take advantage of networking techniques used in job hunting to enhance other facets of their lives. NETLIVING 101, Networking Life's Journey fills that gap by providing all the tools and information readers need to establish networks and have more enjoyable and successful lives. One of the reasons for choosing the title NETLIVING 101, Networking Life's Journey was because, to the best of my knowledge, no college or university offers a course as part of a curriculum on the subject. In earlier, simpler times when most of the world's population lived in small villages where everyone knew their neighbor, there was no need to build networks for they were already in place. The local church or pub was usually the hub of the network. With the complexity of today's society it has become necessary to make a concerted effort to establish support networks in order to be successful and happy. In this self-help book, ideas, examples and suggestions for netliving are developed through short vignettes based on the lives of real people. Names and places will be changed to protect the innocent. NETLIVING 101, Networking Life's Journey is written using the concept known as faction. Essentially, faction refers to the inclusion of certain details which, although they may not have occurred exactly as described in point of fact, give the reader a clear image of the scene in his or her imagination. Rather than telling the reader what netliving is all about, this book demonstrates through the words and actions of the characters. Chapter One introduces the two key characters that appear throughout the book. Roberta and Richard are used alternately, from chapter to chapter, to provide different perspectives. The fabric of friendships is woven through the stages of life and applied to various life experiences from overcoming the fear of public speaking to preparing for retirement. Netliving 101, Networking Life's Journey is designed for individuals who are career oriented, sophisticated, and thoughtful. Most people are concerned about their future and are taking steps to afford themselves successful, happy and prosperous "mature years."
