Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Domestic Violence is a serious issue when dealing with the hands of your abuser. Domestic Violence is a violent or aggressive behavior within the home, church or workplace, typically involving the violent abuse of a spouse or partner. Domestic Violence is also willful intimidation, physical assault, battery, sexual assault, and/ or other abusive behavior as part of a systematic pattern of power and control perpetrated by one intimate partner against another. I was in an abusive relationship with my abuser for a long period of time. I suffer a lot pain and heartache in the hands of my abuser. He had me brainwashed. He can cheat on me with whomever he wanted too, but I dare not question him why. My abuser told me, “I better not tell anyone and if you do I’ll kill you” Now that stuck with me for a long time. I never told anyone of what he had did to me. I knew I had to fi ght back in order for me to get away from him. None of that worked out for me. He always said the right words to win me back. Yes, I loved him and I didn’t want to see him in jail. I kept everything a secret from my family. I pray that if you are in an abusive relationship to get out and seek help. Yes, he may tell you that he won’t do it again but is it worth losing your LIFE? He’s going to tell you all the good words you love to hear, but is your heart worth losing a BEAT? Don’t be afraid to seek help. It’s up to you to get the help. If you know someone you can trust, please tell them. Always keep a journal of what is going on between you and your abuser. I AM A SURVIVOR of DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. I survive the hands of my abuser. To all women’s around the world who is going through an abusive relationship, there is joy on the other side. God will be there in the midst of your storm. May God bless you all!!!!!!!!! Ms. Survivor

It is a snapshot designed to give readers insights into the thoughts and feelings of their neighbors, and for future generations, a window into the real-time experiences of those who lived through the ordeal. The book includes a preface from Lauren Poe, mayor of Gainesville, and entries from a long list of contributors. The essays were collected by the Matheson History Museum and the Writers Alliance of Gainesville. Contributions come from writers and non-writers alike. Victims describe their suffering. Medical personnel highlight their struggles. Young people decry being denied rites of passage such as prom and graduation. Teachers, parents, grandparents, public figures, and even a prison inmate give their perspective. While the stories are drawn from north central Florida, they will resonate with anyone who wants to get a deeper sense of how the world was blindsided by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Does your child show passion and potential in a sport but feels an unhealthy amount of pressure that is leading them to want to quit the sport they used to love so much? The reality is, the approach society is taking to competitive youth sports as a whole is unhealthy, but it doesn't have to be that way. I am not an advocate for everybody wins; I love competition. I believe that with the correct perspective and approach youth athletics can be used to mold our children into Christ-like, confident, and joyful adults. By focusing on the journey rather than the destination players and parents can learn to find value in all of the life lessons that come through competition. This book is a guide that is inspired through twenty-four years of coaching and watching parents who got it right and the others who missed out on the opportunity to use youth athletics to instill Christ-like characteristics and perspectives in their children. The true prize in athletics isn't a trophy or even a scholarship, it is in the life lessons that everyone has available to learn if they are willing to look for them.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores how migrant construction workers in Southern Europe faced unemployment and precarious work conditions during and after the Great Recession. By drawing on rich qualitative data, it investigates the experiences of Albanian men within and beyond the workplace, and sheds light on the capacity of migrant builders to deal with economic hardships and the role of their families and masculine identities in shaping their coping practices. This book suggests a new framework for the study of coping practices among migrant (construction) workers, and adds to the study of integration processes in Southern European countries by comparing the narratives of settled migrants in Italy and Greece. This book also looks at the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on migrant builders’ lives in Southern Europe. By adopting an interdisciplinary approach, this book is of interest both to students and researchers in the field of migration studies and those working in the fields of sociology, geography, anthropology, political science and economics.
