Download or read book Modes of Life written by Valentin Matcas and published by Valentin Leonard Matcas. This book was released on 1901 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Throughout life, your conscious and subconscious intelligences shift you from one mode of life to another, in order to render you more successful while fulfilling your needs. Life has always been this way, while you persist to ignore it for various reasons. And so you live your life randomly, more or less in tune with yourself, with society, and with nature, more or less against norms and expectations, one mode of life after another, just the way it comes and just the way it happens, since you can never understand what goes on, you never learn about it in school, you never see it on TV, and everyone around does just the same. While living your life randomly, your ‘bad’ or ‘unfortunate’ modes of life replace inevitably your ‘good,’ ‘pleasant,’ or ‘fortunate’ ones. What you do, you enjoy the good and you try to avoid the rest, never predicting your life, never understanding your modes of life for what they truly are, and therefore you are never capable to control them. This manner of unconscious, unpredictable living can become frustrating at times, even dangerous, with everyone telling you that you are abnormal, sick, malfunctioning, mean, or disobedient every time you are switched naturally to your ‘bad’ or ‘forbidden’ modes of life. You do your best while refraining from temptations and ‘bad’ behavior, you try to remain within the hypothetical ‘neutral’ or ‘good’ modes of life the way society demands from you, it does not work since your subconscious forces you in every way to obey all its needs, and consequently, you fall in the wrong side of everything. You feel bad and guilty then, you hate yourself, you get sick or you are punished by society, and even worse, you are labeled as sick and suffering by medicine and as criminal and dysfunctional by justice. Modes of life are neither bad nor dysfunctional, since they are meant to facilitate you to cope with and adapt to all sudden changes from your immediate physical and social environment. While if you fail to predict and identify your own modes of life, or if you act against them in any manner, then you might end up in a hospital, in jail, or at the morgue, since it happens often. Throughout this book, you learn to identify and understand your modes of life, modes of intelligence, and modes of existence influencing you the most, while learning the multitude of modes of life, what triggers them, and how to access or avoid them in order to live a healthy, successful, fulfilling life.

Download or read book MORE THAN A PSALM written by Don Lowe and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-07-22 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: More Than a Psalm is a collection of devotions compiled over many years. The reader is encouraged to read the psalm referenced first, then the devotion. Many different styles of introductions are used to lay the groundwork for one theme from the psalm. The overarching theme of the book and of Psalms itself is praise to God in song. Each devotion is a single theme the author gleaned from reading and meditating on God’s Word. The introduction to each devotion is created in such a way to capture the attention of the reader with a familiar quote, song title, or event from history. The following is a sample from the devotion entitled “Why Do the Wicked Prosper?” Open the daily newspaper and all you see is bad news, right? You read articles about how good people are afflicted with trouble and wicked people seemingly prosper in spite of their godless lifestyles. Gangs running rampant; sexual predators on the loose; corporate scandals, but the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer. How can God allow this to happen? Why do the wicked prosper? It’s really very simple. If you perceive prospering as fortune, fame, and money, the natural conclusion is the wicked prosper. When you see things the way God does, it’s a much different picture. It’s all about your perspective. Do you have a biblical perspective or a worldly perspective? As the book is written by a layperson and not a biblical scholar, the themes are meant to resonate with any reader. If you’ve ever struggled with reading the book of Psalms, this devotional is for you. The simple themes and easy-to-understand language will touch your heart and help guide you through Psalms.

Download or read book Shooters written by Abigail A. Kohn and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2004-06-10 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Frequenting gun shops and shooting ranges, and devoting particular attention to those whose interest in weaponry extends beyond the casual, Abigail A. Kohn captures in finegrained and often entertaining, yet always humane, detail how gun owners actually think and feel about their guns. Through her conversations--with cowboy action shooters at a regional match, sport shooters, hunters, with shooters of all ages and races--we hear of the "savage beauty" of a beautifully crafted long gun, of the powerful historical import owners attach to their guns, of the sense of empowerment that comes with shooting skill, and the visceral thrill of discharging a dangerous weapon. Cutting through the cliches that link gun ownership with violent, criminal subcultures and portray shooters as "gun nuts" or potential terrorists, Kohn provides us with a lively and untainted portrait of American gun enthusiasts.

Download or read book Parallels written by V.S.Sury and published by Notion Press. This book was released on 2020-06-04 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The phenomena and events which occur (incessantly) in Nature are countless. But on careful observation, we can notice that some forms of common threads run across different platforms or fields. These fascinating parallels can be found amidst the world of human affairs also, apart from the natural, scientific laws and theories. Look at how a very large unit (or organization, or organism, or machine) is very conveniently and smartly assembled out of many smaller units. The beauty is that the smaller constituent units work independently and at the same time are also a part of the whole. Take human individuals, and as a parallel (the theme of this book) the physical house in which they dwell. Individuals come together and make families. Families live together and make groups or organizations or societies. They, in turn, combine and grow into states; states join up and become a nation. All nations, of course, make up the world–whether they like it or not! Physical, purely material entities like houses and possessions run in a parallel stream with those of human ideologies. The same method is employed by Nature in building its vast empire. Fundamental particles join and exist together to make up atoms. Atoms join and make up molecules. Out of the molecules, all of planet Earth is made. Planets and a star join and make a solar system. Millions of them combine and make a galaxy. Billions and trillions of them make a universe – like ours. There are innumerable such examples in the world we live in. Go ahead and begin to turn the pages.
