One of them I afterward met at her work as Travelers' Aid in a large railway station of our Northwest. Here in several languages she was helping the girls and women that must travel alone. On arrival at Marseilles the party embarked immediately on the Gloucester Castle for Salonika, sailing February 26. The motto adopted is He led them safely on. Letters received from members of the missionary company speak of busy days on board ship with classes and other forms of preparation for the work ahead. The latest cable from Dr. Barton is most encouraging. All the missionary force will be needed at the earliest possible mo ment. Prices of food are falling in consequence of the arrival of food supplies. The entire country is awaiting strong, sane, fraternal Christian approach. One million dollars is asked of the Committee for Relief in. The Near East for seed for spring sowing as the famished sufferers have eaten their seed grain. During the month of February nine of the eleven districts of Suffolk Branch held annual meetings. It was the wish of the Branch that at these gatherings the financial District Meetings policy of the Woman's Board should be of Suffolk Branch. Presented and discussed, as a background for the action of the Branch in annual ses sion March 4. Accordingly officers of the Board have spoken at each of these districts. The attendance has been gratifying and the response to the message cordial. As this is one of our most financially able Branches, the amount of the increase asked is considerable, and every effort should be put forth during the next few months to achieve the goal of set before the societies. All denominations feel the same urge for this as our own. Dr. Belle Allen, the author of the text-book, who was fortunately present, and Dr. Anna Kugler, appealed for medical missionaries; almost every speaker showed this need as the under current of her words; prayer cen tered about it. Round Top talks and camp prayers emphasized it; A Rainbow Rally enforced it through four minute snap - shot talks on Who? What? Where? When? Why? Wherewithal? Fol' lowing the after - supper scheme Of the Rainbow Campaign, with Mrs. Peabody's Call to close the service impressively. As to the response, while not many decisions were actually made known, some were confided in private interviews and there was evident a serious thoughtfulness over the subject. The Summer School Of' 1919 will be remembered as one centre of power for generating missionary consecration in 'a year when its need is an outstanding cry of all mission fields. M. L. D.
