Book excerpt: Este texto propone interpretar el concepto aristotélico de eudaimonia (εὐδαιμονία) a partir de la filosofía de Emmanuel Levinas. Se parte de la noción levinaseana de “gozo” y de su carácter preconceptual con el fin esclarecer el rumbo que permitiría pasar de ese gozo preconceptual al concepto de eudaimonia; se hace una breve reconstrucción de lo que Aristóteles propone en Ética a Nicómaco, para interpretar lo reconstruido a la luz de lo que aquí se denomina “esquema levinaseano de conceptualización” (ELC). El desarrollo del trabajo interpretativo termina por mostrar la necesidad de esclarecer los preceptos que rigen la pregunta por la eudaimonia, tarea que, por su parte, permite retomar la investigación desde otra perspectiva. Este texto busca desarrollar la versión levinaseana del mencionado concepto y defiende que lo que aquí se denomina como “la resolución oportuna” es ese concepto buscado.

Me pregunto si se puede hablar de una mirada vuelta hacia el rostro, pues la mirada es conocimiento, percepción. Pienso, más bien, que el acceso al rostro es de entrada ético. Cuando usted ve una nariz, unos ojos, una frente, un mentón, y puede usted describirlos, entonces usted se vuelve hacia el otro como hacia un objeto. ¡La mejor manera de encontrar al otro es la de ni siquiera darse cuenta del color de sus ojos! Cuando observamos el color de los ojos, no estamos en relación social con el otro. Cierto es que la relación con el rostro puede estar dominada por la percepción, pero lo que es específicamente rostro resulta ser aquello que no se reduce a ella. Ante todo, hay la derechura misma del rostro, su exposición derecha, sin defensa. La piel del rostro es la que se mantiene más desnuda, más desprotegida. La más desnuda, aunque con una desnudez decente. La más desprotegida también: hay en el rostro una pobreza esencial. Prueba de ello es que intentamos enmascarar esa pobreza dándonos poses, conteniéndonos. El rostro está expuesto, amenazado, como invitándonos a un acto de violencia. Al mismo tiempo, el rostro es lo que nos prohíbe matar.

En esta obra Violencia y ética emocional, el autor analiza pragmáticamente la causalidad de esta extraña teoría ética al tenor de los escritos de Lévinas, pero al revés, de "adentro-afuera", "interioridad-exterioridad". Por tanto, dando por supuesto que somos totalmente materia biológica para después contrastar lo que piensa Lévinas del hombre biológico y observar si hay alguna conexión ética sobrenatural con su filosofía Exterior, lo cual directamente no se observa como causa-efecto. Pero sí indirectamente al resultar im-posible su práctica con total indemnidad de los dos polos de una relación ética intercultural. Si ambas identidades de una relación han de ser respetadas por igual, la práctica deviene sumamente conflictiva, y si estamos ante la convicción de imposible perfección: ¿Por qué el ser humano tiene esta vocación interior? Si la ética puede hacer daño a quien la practica en sus diversos grados, pues va en sentido contrario al egoísmo: ¿Cómo es que la deseamos? Pero más arduo aún, quienes la deseamos, que no somos todos, si no la cumplimentamos pudiendo hacerlo también nos sentimos perjudicados por una sensación de culpabilidad psicológica, luego: ¿Es realmente la ontología fundamental? ¿Dónde está y de dónde viene la conciencia ética? Y si ésta fuere una formulación imposible, entonces: ¿Por qué la neuro-ciencia está investigándolo?;Estas cuestiones fundamentales de la teoría ética en el marco de la postmodernidad son analizadas en esta obra, junto con la propia herramienta lógica que se utiliza como necesaria en el discurso, seguido con las diversas opiniones de Gabriel Bello y su teoría sobre los juicios de valor identitarios que rechaza el binarismo positivo/negativo en la estela de la deconstrucción derridaniana. La obra finaliza con una investigación teórica sobre la diferente naturaleza de la relación no ética, subordinada al mundo de la física, del poder y de la libertad, y, de otra parte, la singular relación ética, cuya característica fundamen-tal es que es ajena al poder, a la libertad y a la subordinación física. Un fenómeno fuera del tiempo lógico muy cercano a la curvatura del espacio intersubjetivo levinasiana.
