Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The journey to "Somewhere Else" is easy to read straightforward light verse with illustrations reminiscent of the works of Shel Silverstein and Bruce Lansky. Along the way you'll encounter Pirates, Mr. Perfect, and the unfortunate Mr. Schnee. You'll be warmed by Foolish Frank's Fire, get to see the great Computer Race, and solve the puzzle of the missing part in Incomplete. After meeting Billy on page #1 you will finish at the Ant Races on page #105 and each verse along the way will bring a smile. Everyday situations are made absurd and the impossible is made to seem probable with style and wit to be enjoyed by all ages. Parents will enjoy reading these verses to their children as much as the children will enjoy hearing them. Readers will see places, people, and things that may be familiar, but curiously different with a new point of view. They may even recognize themselves. Over one hundred poems and illustrations to lift the spirit and have you smiling. Reader's Comments: "My eleven-year-old was delighted and wanted to read every verse to me. He couldn't wait to share it with his friends." Stacey Wallman Westwood, California "What fun! What a refreshing view of people and life's simple problems and pleasures. for fans of Shel Silverstein-a must read." Mary Peterman Rockport, Massachusetts "A great read-aloud book for both kids and adults. The illustrations are right on target." Bobbi Beavers Southberwick, Maine "Wonderfully witty! I'm sure I know some of the characters. One or two might be me. Relaxing reading that put a smile in my heart." Rita Wilson Valencia, California

Book excerpt: During World War II, thousands of young American men and women joined the fight to liberate Western Europe from Nazi occupation. From June 6, 1944 to May 7, 1945, an orchestrated effort among the Allies was made toward this end that included five major beach landings on the French coast off the English Channel. The responsibility of launching the mass invasion on the first two beaches code-named Utah, and Omaha, fell primarily to the American forces. British led forces were selected to assault the remaining three beaches code-named Gold, Juno, and The Sword. In the early morning hours of June 6, 1944 at 6:30 a.m., the wars determining battle was launched. Fifteen hundred warships, 4,000 amphibious crafts, 20,000 vehicles, and 13,000 aircraft carrying 145,000 soldiers were deployed. The Omaha and Utah beachhead invasions put the troops at a disadvantage, pitting them against the fortified German forces that occupied the land, but the elements of surprise, courage, and sheer determination led to the success of the operation. The German Wehrmacht was pushed back to face a two-pronged attack that ended the battle for the beach, and led to the beginning of the end of the war.

Book excerpt: The singer, guitarist, and songwriter—best known for his work with Wilco—opens up about his past, his songs, the music, and the people who have inspired him in this personal memoir. This ideal addition to your Wilco collection also makes a perfect gift for music lovers. *A New York Times Bestseller* *A Rolling Stone Best Music Books of 2018 selection* *A Pitchfork Pick: Best Music Books of 2018* Few bands have encouraged as much devotion as the Chicago rock band Wilco, and it's thanks, in large part, to the band's singer, songwriter, and guiding light: Jeff Tweedy. But while his songs and music have been endlessly discussed and analyzed, Jeff has rarely talked so directly about himself, his life, or his artistic process. Until now. In his long-awaited memoir, Jeff will tell stories about his childhood in Belleville, Illinois; the St. Louis record store, rock clubs, and live-music circuit that sparked his songwriting and performing career; and the Chicago scene that brought it all together. He also talks in-depth about his collaborators in Uncle Tupelo, Wilco, and more; and writes lovingly about his parents; wife, Susie; and sons, Spencer and Sammy. Honest, funny, and disarming, Tweedy's memoir will bring readers inside both his life and his musical process, illuminating his singular genius and sharing his story, voice, and perspective for the first time.

Book excerpt: After waiting for what seemed like forever to get a marriage commitment from her fiancĂŠ, Micah Abraham's wedding day has finally arrived. Everything is set for her to have the wedding she'd always fantasized about, and has been fully paid for by her groom, Rossi Evans. There is only one thing wrong. . .Micah won't be there. Micah has long since reached the peak of her frustration. Unbeknownst to Rossi, he's already been dismissed, but instead of declining his proposal and breaking the engagement, Micah happily moves forward. . .with hidden intentions. Armed with Rossi's credit cards, Micah expertly feigns the role of an anxious and ecstatic bride-to-be, sparing no expense for their wedding, yet telling no one of her plans. The day of the wedding, she arrives as scheduled to the church for her hair and make up, then makes a request to her bridesmaids to allow her to spend her last few moments of singleness by herself. Micah uses this opportunity to slip out the side door, jump in her rented car and hot-foot it to the airport. By the time Rossi realizes that he (and the entire wedding party) has been standing at the alter, Micah is in Charlotte, NC, easing into a tub of warm bubbles, enjoying a glass of wine and leafing through her favorite magazine. When Micah and Rossi's paths cross again, Micah is caught totally off guard by the situation, and by the feelings that have been simmering deep inside her heart, despite her denial. Will Micah embrace love this second time around, having set it free the first time?
