Socio-educational Factors and Soft Power of Language critically examines the cultural and individual implications of this phenomenon in the context of field study in Poland and Portugal. Odrowąż-Coates uses institutional ethnography with a combination of theoretical constructs, including “soft power” and “positioning theory,” to examine evidence of English as a new tool for social stratification and its effect on language policies as well as the ways in which it impacts people's lives and their opportunities. C'est cette relation que ce numéro se propose d'examiner en étudiant. comment la circulation des récits et des discours sur les migrants ou par les migrants eux-mêmes constituent un ensemble narratif (de textes écrits ou oraux, privés ou publics) déterminant pour comprendre, d'une part, les fonctions et les processus migratoires et d'autre part, mesurer l'impact qu'ils possèdent sur ces mêmes processus. Qu'il s'agisse de productions locales ou internationales, de discours politiques, culturels ou ordinaires, de récits de vie ou de chants (officiels ou populaires), qu'ils soient relayés par les médias, le cinéma on la littérature, toutes ces mises en mots circulent dans les espaces sociaux et prennent une valeur performative dont les effets portent sur les imaginaires, mais aussi sur les décisions prises au cours des migrations : les départs, les trajectoires, les pratiques sociales, les itinéraires, les modalités de résidence, les formes de vie ailleurs, les retours... Les trois parties de ce numéro, la migration mise en discours, en récifs et en scelle, renvoient à trois types d'espace de parole où se construisent des images, des figures et des paroles de migrants.
