Les conséquences néfastes de la surconsommation sont mal connues de la population générale et la désinformation portée par le lobby télévisuel ajoute à la confusion parentale. Les connaissances scientifiques sur le sujet sont pourtant nombreuses et édifiantes. Nous avons souhaité savoir si être médecin avait un retentissement sur la consommation d'écrans de nos enfants. OBJECTIF PRINCIPAL : Evaluer si le temps d'écran « ludique » est supérieur au temps d'écran « éducatif » chez les enfants de 3 à 10 ans dont au moins un parent est médecin. OBJECTIF SECONDAIRE : Evaluer les raisons parentales à la consommation d'écran de leurs enfants. MÉTHODE : Etude transversale descriptive auprès de médecins français parents d'enfants de 3 à 10 ans, via un questionnaire en ligne. RÉSULTATS : Le temps « ludique » d'écrans reste majoritaire par rapport au temps « éducatif ». La majorité des parents médecins s'inquiètent des effets des écrans sur leurs enfants. Les raisons principales à la consommation d'écrans retrouvées dans les réponses au questionnaire étaient essentiellement un manque de temps (personnel ou professionnel) plus qu'un choix familial voulu. CONCLUSION : La consommation d'écrans chez les enfants de médecins de 3 à 10 ans semble inférieure à la consommation des enfants de la population générale et les contenus à visée éducative semblent plus fréquents que chez ces derniers, même si l'hypothèse principale ne se vérifie pas. Des actions de prévention au sein des écoles/collèges et une consultation de prévention dédiée aux écrans lors du suivi des enfants par les médecins seraient intéressantes à mettre en place.
