Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Leo's Misadventures is about Leo McGregor, a twenty-year-old surfer dude from Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, who won a $156 million lottery. He decided to get out of town for a while to get away from the locals who badgered him for a handout. He hitchhiked across America to Santa Monica, California, via Route 66. After a thirty-nine-day journey across the country, Leo ended up at the Santa Monica Pier with a journal full of stories and a girlfriend named Abby Walker. When he left Kitty Hawk, he had no idea what he would do when he arrived at his destination. Would he turn around and head back east or stick around on the West Coast for a while? Leo and Abby rented a beach house on the Pacific Ocean near the famous pier to give them time to figure things out. On his journey, Leo had given a lot of thought about the best way to use the money he had won. After much thought and discussion with Abby, he decided to start a charitable foundation. He and Abby found a nice office space near the pier and leased it for one year. Leo needed an attorney and found one in Santa Monica named Jess who helped him set up the foundation. With his charitable foundation up and running, Leo needed someone to run the day-to-day operations. He found Freddy, who lived in Malibu with his adopted parents, to fill this critical position. Leo, Abby, Jess, and Freddy became good friends and enjoyed themselves on the coast when they weren't working. Eventually, Leo bought an apartment building on the beach and converted it into a surf shop. He hired Brody, a local surf builder, to run the shop and use locals to help create the boards. Any profits would be donated to charity. With everything running smoothly, Leo began to ponder the need for similar charities in other parts of the country--or internationally.

Book Synopsis HIT SQUAD - VENGEANCE by : Joe Biondo
Download or read book HIT SQUAD - VENGEANCE written by Joe Biondo and published by Author House. This book was released on 2010-02-05 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To have a story published is a joy beyond comprehension. This is my second book. To have someone read it, like it and ask for more is a blessing beyond my wildest dreams. I think with this story I have solidified a style for what I write. My dream is to have a story made into a film. With each story, I also adapt it to a motion picture script because in my mind it's playing that way as I write it. I am determined to make it happen someday, God willing. For now.... Enjoy this story and realize I write because I love life and feel that no one should be violated from the cowards that lay in the shadows. The weak, meek and young should be protected at all costs. My stories are fiction but my beliefs are real. Leo Greco (the main character) was not going away upon his retirement from his police job, he was just moving to another branch of law enforcement. Only this time God was his boss. One of the commandments is, “Thou shall not kill”, to Leo Greco that didn't mean much. To him, an eye for an eye was a better fit. If you dare to rape, abuse, kill, rob, threaten, beat or drug a weaker person. If you got out of jail and did it again. If you laughed at the laws you abused because you know you'd be able to commit crimes again. Chances are you'd meet your destiny. Chances are you'd see why you were about to die. The HIT SQUAD always gave you a reason before you were killed. No person was to be hit without knowing why he was about to die. That rule was instilled by Mr. Leo Greco. That rule was followed by all.

Book Synopsis The White Goddess: An Encounter by : Simon Gough
Download or read book The White Goddess: An Encounter written by Simon Gough and published by Galley Beggar Press. This book was released on 2012-08-25 with total page 704 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The White Goddess: An Encounter is a mesmerising tale of sex, lies and divided loyalties. Set between the magic of a bohemian Majorca and the horror of Franco's Madrid, it is a haunting evocation of a lost time and place, dominated by the extraordinary power of Robert Graves, one of the 20th century's greatest writers. When 10-year-old Simon Gough went to Majorca in 1953 he thought he had landed in paradise. Far from the misery of his English boarding school and his parents' divorce, he fell in love - with the tiny village of Deya, with his wild cousin Juan and most of all with his beloved "Grand-Uncle" Robert Graves. When he returned in 1960, paradise had been overrun by beatniks and marijuana - and Simon liked it all the more. But soon he fell for the enchanting Margot Callas, Robert Graves' muse. He found himself entangled in a web of lies and deceit and playing a game whose rules he didn't understand. The repercussions would haunt him for the rest of his life. The Observer says: "Impassioned, with all the intensive drama a youthful affair entails, this "autobifantasy" (as Gough calls it) is as much about a love of a place - the freedom and beauty of Dei? contrasts with the brutality of Franco's Madrid - as of a person. In fact, some of the finest parts of the book are not about Callas but the touching portrait of Graves and his wife Beryl; a tender, observant record both of their relationship and their real selves in their later years."

Book Synopsis Jungian Perspectives on Rebirth and Renewal by : Elizabeth Brodersen
Download or read book Jungian Perspectives on Rebirth and Renewal written by Elizabeth Brodersen and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-11-25 with total page 442 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jungian Perspectives on Rebirth and Renewal brings together an international selection of contributors on the themes of rebirth and renewal. With their emphasis on evolutionary ancestral memories, creation myths and dreams, the chapters in this collection explore the indigenous and primordial bases of these concepts. Presented in eight parts, the book elucidates the importance of indirect, associative, mythological thinking within Jungian psychology and the efficacy of working with images as symbols to access unconscious creative processes. Part I begins with a comparative study of the significance of the phoenix as symbol, including its image as Jung’s family crest. Part II focuses on Native American indigenous beliefs about the transformative power of nature. Part III examines synchronistic symbols as liminal place/space, where the relationship between the psyche and place enables a co-evolution of the psyche of the land. Part IV presents Jung’s travels in India and the spiritual influence of Indian indigenous beliefs had on his work. Part V expands on the rebirth of the feminine as a dynamic, independent force. Part VI analyses ancestral memories evoked by the phoenix image, exploring archetypal narratives of infancy. Part VII focuses on eco-psychological, synchronistic carriers of death, rebirth and renewal through mythic characterisations. Finally, part VIII explores the mythopoetic, visionary dimensions of rebirth and renewal that give literary expression to indigenous people/primordial psyche re-navigated through popular literature. The chapters both mirror and synchronise a rebirth of Jungian and non-Jungian academic interest in indigenous peoples, creation myths, oral traditions and narrative dialogue as the ‘primordial psyche’ worldwide, and the book includes one chapter supplemented by an online video. This collection will be inspiring reading for academics and students of analytical psychology, Jungian and post-Jungian studies and mythology, as well as analytical psychologists, Jungian analysts and Jungian psychotherapists.
