Der Anreiz, mich mit diesem Thema auseinanderzusetzen, entstand durch meine Arbeit in einem Beratungsunternehmen für mittelständische Betriebe. Grundsätzlich mag ich die Arbeit mit Menschen. Meine Person und mein professionelles Wissen stelle ich gerne zur Verfügung, um anderen Menschen in ihren Veränderungen und Entscheidungen behilflich zu sein. Die Arbeit im Beratungsunternehmen hat mir folgendes gezeigt: Meine Arbeit als Initiator und Multiplikator in Teams, Workshops und Fortbildungen, kann viele Menschen erreichen und somit auch mehr Menschen nützen. Dementsprechend suchte ich nach einer Verbindung zwischen den Tätigkeiten eines Beratungsunternehmens und der Sozialen Arbeit. Eine mögliche Verbindung ist die Betriebssozialarbeit. Jedoch befasst sich die klassische Betriebssozialarbeit hauptsächlich mit der Beratung einzelner Personen (personenbezogener Ansatz). Das ist meines Erachtens eine zu einseitige Arbeitsweise für Sozialarbeiter in Unternehmen. Dafür existieren zwei Gründe: 1. wird das professionelle Potential der Sozialarbeiter – im Sinne einer Ressource des Unternehmens – nicht genügend ausgeschöpft. 2. bieten sich in einem Unternehmen andere Aufgabenfelder für Sozialarbeiter, die für den Betrieb wesentlich effektiver sind und die der personenbezogene Ansatz alleine nicht abdecken kann. Des Weiteren ist die klassische Betriebssozialarbeit problemorientiert und symptombezogen ausgerichtet, mit dem Ziel, die Ursachen des Problems zu beseitigen. Auf diese Weise sollen die Symptome, wie hohe Fehlzeiten, Sucht et cetera, vermindert oder aufgelöst werden, um den jeweiligen Mitarbeiter wieder „funktionsfähig“ für das Unternehmen zu machen. Letztlich kann dies bis zur Entmündigung des Klienten (Mitarbeiters) führen, da der Sozialarbeiter das Problem des Klienten (zum Beispiel, Alkoholabhängigkeit) benennt bzw. diagnostiziert und nicht den Klienten fragt ob, und was er an sich verändern möchte. Damit die Abgrenzung zu diesen älteren Inhalten transparenter wird, habe ich die moderne Betriebssozialarbeit mit der Begrifflichkeit „Betriebliche Soziale Arbeit“ benannt.
