Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Behind the Counter, Neil Jennings offers tips, tricks, shortcuts and techniques. Whatever one's experience level, there are things in this book that readers will find useful or thought provoking. Jennings started getting serious about fly-fishing in 1973 and has fished that way exclusively ever since. From 1982 through 2003 he was a partner/owner in a retail fly-fishing shop in Calgary , Alberta . During that time Neil was behind the counter, answering questions and giving advice to thousands of flyfishers, from wannabes to seriously talented anglers. Over the years, Neil learned a lot about fly-fishing, some of it by good example and some of it by bad. This book is a distillation of the best of that experience. One of the wonderful things about fly-fishing is that you have an opportunity to learn new things all the time.

Book Synopsis Lead-Based Paint Handbook by : Jan W. Gooch
Download or read book Lead-Based Paint Handbook written by Jan W. Gooch and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-12-08 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lead-based paint has become a national issue and will continue to be a hi- priority focus ofnational, state, and local agencies until there is no lead-based paint in the United States. Lead-based paint has become a tremendous health hazard for people and animals. Lead-based paint has been in widespread use throughout Europe and the United States. Lead has been known to be a health hazard since the time ofPliny the Elder (A. D. 23–79), but it was deemed that the advantages of lead in paint outweighed the health hazards. There has been a change in outlook, and in 1973 the U. S. Congress banned all lead paint from residential structures. A voluminous number of law suits have been initiated since, and continue to be litigated with the purpose of determining the parties responsible for the lead poisoning of children and others and to exact the indemnities. Lead-based paint is still authorized for use on bridges and nonresidential structures, and thousands of city, state, military, and federal government housing projects still contain lead-based paint. This paint must be removed if these dwellings are to be safe living quarters, especially for children. Aba- ment techniques continue to be evaluated; some have been used successfully. Lead-based paint abatement will continue into the next century, and it is hoped that this comprehensive volume will serve as a guide for those seriously interested in this important subject.
Book Synopsis Coins and Economy in Magdala/Taricheae by : Bruno Callegher
Download or read book Coins and Economy in Magdala/Taricheae written by Bruno Callegher and published by Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht. This book was released on 2023-08-14 with total page 406 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On a monetary basis, Magdala must be considered as one of the most important and active settlements between the 1st century BC and most of the 3rd century AD on Lake Kinneret, a place of production and trade, of supply for military forces, certainly in contact with other trading centres, probably located on the Mediterranean coast, however in a 'market' perspective quite different from our current experience and even from the semantic content of this word, often abused with a semantic extension that does not correspond to the experience of the ancients. Its monetary decline started on the early 4th century, when the economic and monetary strategies of the Constantinian era shifted the flow of money to other routes, especially between the great port cities of the Mediterranean. The welcome contribution of Callegher's study derives from the new data published, which allows us to overcome "clichés" and a stereotypical view of both the archaeological site and the economy of the Upper Galilee.
