When managers underestimate this dynamic interaction, the resulting tension ultimately manifests in lowered performance and increased costs, what he refers to as the “hidden costs” of organizational life. Only by delving into the depths of these organizational dynamics can we hope to fully understand – and create the basis for improving – organizational performance. The Qualimetrics Approach presents a different and challenging way of thinking about analyzing organizations, one that draws together quantitative information, financial analysis and qualitative insights into organizational dynamics. Those familiar with Henri Savall’s and his colleague Véronique Zardet’s earlier work on the socio-economic theory of organizations will recognize their assessments of organizational dysfunctions and hidden costs – but in a different context. In their current work, the emphasis is on the tensions created by the wider environment – the idea of tetranormalization – and how those tensions shape and influence organizational life. Drawing on a wide range of examples from the news media and popular press, Savall and Zardet paint a disturbing picture of the underlying dynamics and challenges posed by a literal avalanche of standards and norms – which are often ambiguous and conflicting – that literally encompasses all that we do. Their analytic framework is composed of four “poles” – two social dimensions and two economic dimensions – that capture social norms and quality, safety and environment standards (the social dimension), and trade-related norms and accounting and financial standards (the economic dimension). Throughout the volume, Savall and Zardet’s analysis captures the myriad ways in which these dimensions interact, shaping the “rules of the game” that dictate how organizations compete and collaborate. Differentiating the “rules of the game” from “playing with” those rules, they delve into the subtleties and nuances that underlie these “poles,” providing further insight into how these forces are manipulated through lobbying and the seemingly 24/7 cycle of exposing, publicizing and rule-making surrounding social and economic as well as scientific and technological controversies. The experience - often declared to be indescribable, inexplicable, or ineffable - is held by many to be the most important of their lives and, moreover, the best proof available for matters "transcendent." In What Is It Like To Be Dead?, Jens Schlieter argues that to understand recent testimonies of near-death experiences, we need to be aware of the history of innumerable reports of earlier near-death experiences that were communicated and handed down in scores of newspapers, journals, and books. Collections of such testimonies have been published for more than 150 years, accompanied by attempts to classify and interpret them. Schlieter analyzes the religious relevance of near-death experiences -for the experiencers themselves, but also for the growing audience attracted by these testimonies. Near-death experiences bear ontological, epistemic, intersubjective, and moral significance, ranging from reassurance that religious experience is still possible to claims that they initiate a new spiritual orientation in life, or offer evidence for the transcultural validity of afterlife beliefs. This study is the first to document and analyze four centuries of near-death testimonies before the codification of the genre in the 1970s, offering the first full account of the modern genealogy of "near-death experiences."

It covers jade and bronze ware, gold and silver ware and porcelain ware, pottery, porcelain, painting, calligraphy, and handicrafts. There are 363 relics in the book. In 960, Zhao Kuangtin, commander of the imperial guard troops of the later Zhou Dynasty staged a mutiny at Chenqiao and proclaimed himself emperor. He named his new dynasty the Song Dynasty and chose Dongling Kaifeng for the capital. This dynasty now called the Northern Song in history, gradually eliminated rival regimes and ended the separation of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms, co-existing with the Liao Regime established by the Qidan ethic group and Western Xia Regime established by the Dangxian ethic group. In 1127 Emperors Huizong and Quinzong were taken captive by the Jin Dynasty established by the Jurchen people, thus ending the Northern Song Dynasty. In the same year, Zhao Gou, then King King, established the imperial court of Song and moved the capital to Linhan (present day Hangzhou City in Zhejiang). This is what history calls the Southern Song Dynasty, and formed a glance at the Jin and Western Xia. In this period, thanks to easy politics and a relatively emancipated ideology, great achievements were obtained in various scientific technologies, theoretical trends, academic schools, religious thought and literary creation and the arts also showed an unprecedented prosperous science. Jade ware penetrated various aspects of social life, and he shapes, decorations and patterns all showed a distinctive secularisation. The invasion of northern nomads introduced a new cultural atmosphere to the Central Plains. The porcelain kilns could be found everywhere and finally developed into eight major systems: Ding, Yaozhou, Cizhou, Jun, Yuezhou, Longquan, Jingdezhen blueish white porcelain and Jian kilns. As well, there were four major royal kilns: Ru Kiln and Jun Kiln of the Northern Song Dynasty and Xiunesisi Kiln and Jiaotanxia Kiln of the Southern Dynasty. The arts of calligraphy and painting were typical representatives of the flourishing culture in the Song Dynasty. During this period an imperial art academy was founded, enlisting folk artists and a large number of professional painters were trained. Calligraphers of the Northern and Southern Song Dynasties inherited previous styles but also emphasised the representation of the individual subjective will. Other handicrafts developed: gold and silver ware tended to be light, handy and graceful. In the Song Dynasty, people has less costly funerals so less jade has been unearthed. Those that have are in: Sichuan, Zhejiang and Jiangxis. The emphasis is on practical utensils, drinking vessels, dress adornments and accessories. At the same time, there was progress in the technologies of jade carving: layered piercing and large-scale jade ware. This book, the sixth in a ten-volume collection, brings to the English-speaking world a series of books from China which has been complied by an Expert Committee of the Chinese Society of Cultural Relics.
