Book Synopsis Advances in Adaptive Computational Methods in Mechanics by : P. Ladeveze
Download or read book Advances in Adaptive Computational Methods in Mechanics written by P. Ladeveze and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1998-06-23 with total page 539 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mastering modelling, and in particular numerical models, is becoming a crucial and central question in modern computational mechanics. Various tools, able to quantify the quality of a model with regard to another one taken as the reference, have been derived. Applied to computational strategies, these tools lead to new computational methods which are called "adaptive". The present book is concerned with outlining the state of the art and the latest advances in both these important areas.Papers are selected from a Workshop (Cachan 17-19 September 1997) which is the third of a series devoted to Error Estimators and Adaptivity in Computational Mechanics. The Cachan Workshop dealt with latest advances in adaptive computational methods in mechanics and their impacts on solving engineering problems. It was centered too on providing answers to simple questions such as: what is being used or can be used at present to solve engineering problems? What should be the state of art in the year 2000? What are the new questions involving error estimators and their applications?

Download or read book Mécanique de propagation et de bifurcation des fissures written by RECHONaman and published by Lavoisier. This book was released on 2012-04-16 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Mechanics of Sandwich Structures by : A. Vautrin
Download or read book Mechanics of Sandwich Structures written by A. Vautrin and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 441 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main advantages of sandwiches as structural components are now well known and well-established. Due to the progress in polymer science and engineering and advances in manufacturing processes, sandwich structures can blend various functional and structural properties and therefore lead to highly innovating systems. The current difficulty to overcome is to provide designers with proper methodologies and tools that could enable them to design improved sandwich structures. Such dedicated design tools should be efficient, reliable, flexible and user-friendly. They should be based on advanced knowledge of sandwich behaviour at global and local scales. Such approach relies on our capability to test, identify, control and model structure performances. The impressive variety of core and face materials and the rapid developments in forming processes give new opportunities to design components which have more complex shapes and higher integrated functional and structural properties. Interest in sandwiches is permanently growing in industry and refined testing and modelling approaches should be encouraged to set up relevant guidelines to design reliable advanced structures. The European Society for Mechanics sponsored the EUROMECH 360 Colloquium on the 'Mechanics of Sandwich Structures' in Saint-Etienne, France, on 13 - 15 May 1997. The main purpose of EUROMECH 360 was to go into the most recent progresses in sandwich analysis and design, including mechanical modelling and testing. It was expected that the Colloquium should contribute to define new research directions to support development of advanced applications in strategic industrial sectors such as ground transportations or building and civil engineering.
Book Synopsis Mathematical Analysis of Thin Plate Models by : Philippe Destuynder
Download or read book Mathematical Analysis of Thin Plate Models written by Philippe Destuynder and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shells and plates have been widely studied by engineers during the last fifty years. As a matter of fact an important number of papers have been based on analytical calculations. More recently numerical simulations have been extensively used. for instance for large displacement analysis. for shape optimization or even -in linear analysis -for composite material understanding. But all these works lie on a choice of a finite element scheme which contains usually three kinds of approximations: 1. a plate or shell mndel including smnll parameters associated to the thickness, 2. an approximntion of the geometry (the medium sUrface of a shell and its boundary), 3. afinite element scheme in order to solve the mndel chosen. VI Obviously the conclusions that we can draw are very much depending on the quality of the three previous choices. For instance composite laminated plates with damage like a delamination is still an open problem even if interesting papers have already been published and based on numerical simulation using existing fmite element and even plate models. • In our opinion the understanding of plate modelling is still an area of interest. Furthermore the links between the various models have to be handled with care. The certainly best understood model is the Kirchhoff-Love model which was completely justified by P. O. Ciarlet and Ph. Destuynder in linear analysis using asymptotic method. But the conclusion is not so clear as far as large displacements are to be taken into account.

Book Synopsis Élasticité et plasticité by : FRANÇOIS
Download or read book Élasticité et plasticité written by FRANÇOIS and published by Lavoisier. This book was released on 2009-04-08 with total page 510 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Les alliages à mémoire de forme by : LEXCELLENT Christian
Download or read book Les alliages à mémoire de forme written by LEXCELLENT Christian and published by Lavoisier. This book was released on 2013-04-01 with total page 407 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
