Book Synopsis Large Signal Computer Analysis of Distortion in Traveling Wave Tubes by : Sven Wallander
Download or read book Large Signal Computer Analysis of Distortion in Traveling Wave Tubes written by Sven Wallander and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the present paper the signal distortion (compression and AM-to-PM conversion) in the large signal region, including the saturation range, is studied by means of computer experiments. The disc model of the confined electron beam is used. The calculations are based on a recent analytical field theory of the small and medium signal distortion in TWTs. The method of the calculations is described in Appendices A, B and C. Nonlinear analytic theories, describing signal distortion, have been developed. These theories are restricted to low and medium signal levels. Computer experiments can be performed at any signal level and have been used to study the maximum output power from TWTs. (Author).
Book Synopsis Investigation of Large-signal Traveling-wave Tubes by : G. T. Konrad
Download or read book Investigation of Large-signal Traveling-wave Tubes written by G. T. Konrad and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 1 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research was continued on a study of large signal traveling-wave tubes. Extensions on the two-dimensional large-signal analysis for klystrons and traveling-wave tubes are presented. Space-charge effects and the effects of stream subdivisions and the number of charge groups chosen are shown in a number of graphs. The work on the nonlinear theory of multistream microwave devices by a density function method is summarized. An improved method of handling the coupling between positive and negative velocity regions was worked out. Experimental test results on several phase-focused tubes are presented. Efficiency enhancements obtained by this method as well as a simple depressed potential collector are described. The test results obtained on the ring-and-bar tube before it had to be rebuilt are also listed. Several additional minor changes made on the solid beam digital computer program are described. Futhermore the status of the program for solution of magnetron injection guns is discussed. (Author).

This book was released on 2018-10-18 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The use is described of a successful large-signal, two-dimensional (axisymmetric), deformable disk computer model of the helical traveling wave tube amplifier, an extensively revised and operationally simplified version. We also discuss program input and output and the auxiliary files necessary for operation. Included is a sample problem and its input data and output results. Interested parties may now obtain from the author the FORTRAN source code, auxiliary files, and sample input data on a standard floppy diskette, the contents of which are described herein. Book Synopsis Nonlinear Traveling Wave Tube Analysis with Two Signal Frequencies by : Sven Wallander
Download or read book Nonlinear Traveling Wave Tube Analysis with Two Signal Frequencies written by Sven Wallander and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The mutual nonlinear distortion of two simultaneous signals in a TWT is theoretically investigated. It is shown that minimum phase distortion occurs at a low beam voltage while minimum amplitude distortion occurs at a high beam voltage. The mutual distortion dominated over the self distortion. Book Synopsis Nonlinear Multi-Signal Traveling Wave Tube Theory by : Sven Wallander
Download or read book Nonlinear Multi-Signal Traveling Wave Tube Theory written by Sven Wallander and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report gives an analysis of the nonlinearities arising in a TWT with N input signals. The signal frequencies are assumed to be confined within a narrow frequency band. The sum of the input signals is then equivalent to a single signal with a slow modulation of the amplitude and the phase and the multi-signal nonlinearities can be predicted from the single-signal nonlinearities. These have been theoretically calculated in an earlier paper. Fifth order power series expansions of the single-signal nonlinearities are used. Minimum amplitude nonlinearities are obtained for a beam voltage higher than that giving maximum small signal gain and minimum phase shift nonlinearities are obtained for a beam voltage lower than that. The power of the third and fifth order modulation products is minimum for a beam voltage between that for maximum small signal gain and that for minimum amplitude nonlinearities. The 'self-distortion', i.e. the compression and the AM-to-PM conversion of one of the signals, is strongly influenced by the total power carried by the other signals. The cross-distortion quantities are generally about twice as large as the self-distortion quantities. (Author).
