Neu enthalten sind nun Begriffe wie Migrationshintergrund, Finanzkrise, Passivrauchen, Klimawandel und Niedrigenergiehaus. Speziellere Begriffe wie Zentralabitur, Abgeltungssteuer oder Gleichbehandlungsgesetz, aber auch Bionik, fehlen (noch). Hierfür steht der Langenscheidt-Übersetzungsdienst zur Verfügung, der via E-Mail binnen Kurzem den passenden Begriff liefert. Bei den Abkürzungen hapert es: BAT und ÖTV sind noch gelistet, nicht aber TVöD und ver.di. Im Anhang sind Empfehlungen zu den (fakultativen) neuen Schreibweisen im Französischen hinzugekommen. - Das in der Größenordnung vergleichbare "Handwörterbuch Französisch" von Pons wurde noch nicht aktualisiert (zuletzt BA 9/04), das "Großwörterbuch Französisch" von Pons (ID 3/09) nur marginal. - Auflage von 2001 (BA 8/01) sollte nun ersetzt werden, die Vorauflage von 2006 kann noch weiterlaufen.
