En este sentido, los objetivos que se persiguen son analizar la informacion disponible en cada pais sobre la situacion sanitaria de sus mujers, utilizando el concepto genero. Las hipotesis de las que parte el proyecto se refieren a que la situacion de salud-Enfermedad de las mujeres centroamericanas es distinta de la de los hombres y que difiere de acuerdo a factores diferenciales, como son la edad, la zona de residencia, el nivel socioeconomico, la etnia, la participacion economica, el nivel educativo y el estado conyugal. Otras hipotesis de trabajo son: Que las estadisticas oficiales no evidencian claramente esa situacion de las mujeres de la subregion; que las politicas, los programas y los servicios de salud consideran a las mujeres fundamentalmente de acuerdo a su funcion reproductora-Biologica; y que la legislacion vigente no garantiza totalmente la situacion de salud e las mismas mujeres.
