Book Synopsis The Concept of Time in Early Twentieth-Century Philosophy by : Flavia Santoianni
Download or read book The Concept of Time in Early Twentieth-Century Philosophy written by Flavia Santoianni and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-11-26 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a collection of authoritative contributions on the concept of time in early twentieth-century philosophy. It is structured in the form of a thematic atlas: each section is accompanied by relevant elementary logic maps that reproduce in a “spatial” form the directionalities (arguments and/or discourses) reported on in the text. The book is divided into three main sections, the first of which covers phenomenology and the perception of time by analyzing the works of Bergson, Husserl, Sartre, Merleau-Ponty, Deleuze, Guattari and Derrida. The second section focuses on the language and conceptualization of time, examining the works of Cassirer, Wittgenstein, Heidegger, Lacan, Ricoeur and Foucault, while the last section addresses the science and logic of time as they appear in the works of Guillaume, Einstein, Reichenbach, Prigogine and Barbour. The purpose of the book is threefold: to provide readers with a comprehensive overview of the concept of time in early twentieth-century philosophy; to show how conceptual reasoning can be supported by accompanying linguistic and spatial representations; and to stimulate novel research in the humanistic field concerning the complex role of graphic representations in the comprehension of concepts.
Book Synopsis La scienza e l'idea di ragione by : Paolo Musso

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Brain, Decision Making and Mental Health by : Nima Rezaei
Download or read book Brain, Decision Making and Mental Health written by Nima Rezaei and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-01-01 with total page 725 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Brain, Decision Making, and Mental Health acknowledges that thinking is not a constant phenomenon but varies considerably across cultures. Critical thinking is particularly important in bridging thinking divisions and its applicability across sciences, particularly medical sciences. We see critical thinking as educable and the arts as means to achieve this purpose. We address the multidimensional relationship between thinking and health and related mechanisms. Thinking mainly affects emotion regulation and executive function; in other words, both mental and physical health are related as a function of thoughts. Considering the thinking‐feeling‐emotion regulation/executive function pathway, it would be reasonable to propose thinking capacities‐based interventions to impact emotion regulation and executive function, such as mindfulness and psychotherapy. We review decision-making taking place in integrated and social contexts and discuss the decision-making styles-decision outcomes relation. Finally, artificial thinking and intelligence prepare us for decision-making outside the human mind.

Download or read book IL SOGNATORE DEL "MONDO VERO" written by Alessio Arzuffi and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2011-12-05 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book The Idea of Beauty in Italian Literature and Language written by and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2019-01-04 with total page 391 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Beauty is a central concept in the Italian cultural imagination throughout its history and in virtually all its manifestations. It particularly permeates the domains that have governed the construction of Italian identity: literature and language. The Idea of Beauty in Italian Literature and Language assesses this long tradition in a series of essays covering a wide chronological and thematic range, while crossing from historical linguistics to literary and cultural studies. It offers elements for reflection on cross-disciplinary approaches in the humanities, and demonstrates the power of beauty as a fundamental category beyond aesthetics.

Book Synopsis A Three-Dimensional Theory of Law by : María José Falcon y Tella
Download or read book A Three-Dimensional Theory of Law written by María José Falcon y Tella and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2010-04-27 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What this book intends to do is to study three-dimensionalism (the distinction values-norms-facts) not in what could be called its historical dimension, but in its substantive aspect, as a “form” that, when applied to different legal themes, would add a “material content” to the three-dimensional theory. We can point out, as a study plan, the distinction between “three” perspectives: Those of the legal norm, of the legal order, and the legal relationship. Three-dimensionalism also appears in this work when one analyzes the “three” phases of the life of the law: The formation, the interpretation, and the application; and in the distinction between the “three” characteristics of the legal order: Fullness, coherence, and unity—the theory of legal validity, intended as legitimacy, as validity strictly speaking, or as effectiveness.

Book Synopsis The Complete Works of Gabrio Piola: Volume II by : Francesco dell'Isola
Download or read book The Complete Works of Gabrio Piola: Volume II written by Francesco dell'Isola and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-10-06 with total page 954 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the second volume of Piola’s original Italian text together with the English-language translation and comments, showing convincingly that Gabrio Piola’s work must still be regarded as a modern theory. Gabrio Piola’s work has had an enormous impact on the development of applied mathematics and continuum mechanics. As such, a committee of scientific experts took it upon themselves to translate his complete works. In a second step, they commented on Piola’s work and compared it to modern theories in mechanics in order to stress Piola’s impact on modern science and prove and confirm that he achieved significant milestones in applied mathematics.
