Book Synopsis I vent’anni della legge 328 del 2000 nella penisola. Le trasformazioni del welfare locale by : Luca Pacini
Download or read book I vent’anni della legge 328 del 2000 nella penisola. Le trasformazioni del welfare locale written by Luca Pacini and published by Roma TrE-Press. This book was released on 2021 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book Synopsis The Politics of Minimum Income by : Marcello Natili
Download or read book The Politics of Minimum Income written by Marcello Natili and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-12-14 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Minimum income schemes (MIS) have become key social protection institutions for European citizens, but we know little regarding the logic and dynamics of institutional change in this policy field. This book provides an analytical model that will facilitate an understanding of the scope and direction of recent reforms, offering insight into the conditions under which minimum income schemes are introduced, expanded or retrenched. Natili presents a comparative analysis of policy trajectories of minimum income schemes in Italy and Spain between the mid-1980s and 2015. Although these two countries had similar points of departure, and faced comparable functional pressures and institutional constraints, they experienced remarkably different developments in this policy field in the last two decades. This comparative analysis provides empirical evidence of the impacts of different types of credit-claiming dynamics resulting from the interaction of socio-political demand with political supply. The Politics of Minimum Income also assesses the reform processes both in countries that have introduced MIS in the age of austerity (such as Portugal) and in countries that have retrenched them (Austria and Denmark).
Book Synopsis Poverty in Italy by : Saraceno, Chiara
Download or read book Poverty in Italy written by Saraceno, Chiara and published by Policy Press. This book was released on 2020-09-02 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Three experienced Italian sociologists explore the structural and cultural dimensions of poverty in their country. Comparing Italy’s regime with other European countries, they consider the interplay of conditions in the labour market, the family and welfare arrangements as causes of poverty. This in-depth analysis explores how forced familialism, unbalanced gender arrangements, territorial cleavages and sluggish growth have rendered Italy vulnerable to financial crisis. As old risks of poverty have worsened, new risks have emerged and children, the working poor and migrants have become the ‘new poor’. Combining theoretical and empirical tools, this is a topical fresh take on the understanding of poverty in Italy that is even more crucial considering the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Book Synopsis Administering welfare reform by : Henman, Paul
Download or read book Administering welfare reform written by Henman, Paul and published by Policy Press. This book was released on 2006-03-22 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While reforms of welfare policies have been widely analysed, the reform of welfare administration has received far less attention. Using empirical case studies, this book provides significant new insights into the way welfare administration is being internationally transformed. Particular attention is given to the effect on welfare clients, staff and agencies. Administering welfare reform presents a critical analysis of governance practices in welfare administration and examines shifts in the participants, practices and processes of welfare administration. It presents original empirical case studies that highlight the effects of reforming welfare governance on welfare subjects, staff and agencies and provides a much-needed international and comparative perspective of changing welfare governance. This book is aimed at scholars and advanced students of sociology, social policy, economics, public administration and management, as well as social policy practitioners and service delivery workers.

Book Synopsis Health and Healthcare Policy in Italy since 1861 by : Francesco Taroni
Download or read book Health and Healthcare Policy in Italy since 1861 written by Francesco Taroni and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-01-01 with total page 303 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Providing a historical overview of healthcare in Italy from its unification in 1861 to the present COVID-19 pandemic, this book analyses the political, social and cultural impact of Italian healthcare policy and medicine. The author examines the development of public health, hospitals, and primary care, and the building of healthcare systems across three political regimes in Italy: the liberal period (1861-1914), Fascism (1922-43), and the Italian Republic (1948 to the present day). By emphasising the embeddedness of health-related legislation in Italy’s political and social background, this book offers a comparative account of Italian health policy, and contrasts this with developments in neighbouring European countries, Canada and the United States. The book focuses on the Italian government’s reaction to the social and political impact of several diseases: pellagra; cholera; malaria; and tuberculosis, and explores the present-day response to the current COVID-19 pandemic. A timely and comprehensive read, this book will appeal to those teaching and researching Italian history and the history of medicine and healthcare more widely.
