Book excerpt: La investigación que se presenta en este documento reúne evidencia sobre la existencia de actitudes y habilidades del docente en su práctica profesional, se detectan cuáles se dan en el actuar tradicional y cuáles están presentes en uno autogestivo, que viene a integrar el centro de la tesis de esta investigación. En el actuar docente tradicional se analizan variables como el control normativo, los ritos, la disciplina, la transmisión de conocimientos y la dependencia del profesor en la toma de decisiones escolares entre otras que sustentan la educación tradicional. Dentro del actuar autogestivo se analizan variables como la autonomía, la creatividad, la eficiencia en el profesor, sus expectativas, el desarrollo de habilidades generativas como elemento de la transformación de su quehacer y su trascendencia en la comunidad escolar entre otras que permiten hacer una caracterización como docente autogestivo. En la investigación se muestra que el profesor de educación básica está dispuesto a romper con los moldes preestablecidos, ellos perciben que los actuales ya no le son funcionales, que son parte de un modelo represivo, reproductivo que promueve aprendizajes memorísticos y que es improductivo para la satisfacción de las necesidades del proyecto de vida del alumnado y de la comunidad. Un aspecto importante en esta investigación es la parte afectiva, los profesores dicen favorecer la educación en un ambiente propicio para el aprendizaje, que estimulan el desarrollo de habilidades afectivas entre los alumnos, mencionan que tienen una alta seguridad en si mismos, ellos se consideran productivos y que el trabajo que desempeñan tiene calidad, se consideran creativos y que apoyan el desarrollo de los demás, que son conciliadores, que favorecen la equidad, además que ellos responden con éxito a las exigencias externas, sin embargo todas las manifestaciones de aprecio personal que tienen de si mismos por elevar la calidad en los servicios educativos no dan como resultado cambios trascendentales de transformación en el actuar y conocer del alumno. Con respecto a sus metas personales y profesionales los docentes consideran que sus expectativas no están satisfechas aún, la información reunida muestra evidencias de que los profesores sí elaboran nuevas estrategias, incorporan y adecuan las sugerencias proporcionadas por los materiales oficiales y otros maestros, también utilizan otros recursos, sin embargo siguen utilizando un “método” porque es el que mejor les funciona. Se detecta, que sigue presentándose un alto grado de transmisión de conocimientos a los alumnos, los profesores señalan que de manera muy poco frecuente la escuela desarrolla formas inusuales de pensar, por otra parte se muestra que el mismo docente no plantea en gran medida interrogantes desde diversas perspectivas; pero esto no se transformará si la profesionalización de docentes en las instituciones formadoras sigue siendo reproductiva y mecanicista; en una perspectiva desde un paradigma educativo y no desde uno pedagógico, que favorezca el desarrollo de habilidades y actitudes que coadyuven a la autogestión de los maestros; donde ellos reconozcan sus debilidades y tengan la actitud autogestiva para realizar las acciones pertinentes para fortalecer sus habilidades aplicables a la satisfacción profesional y personal, además de concebirse como un profesional, eficaz, eficiente, productivo y autogestor.
