Les deux principales sont : la nouvelle réforme de la PAC, avec des primes découplées de la production, et la démographie agricole, à la veille du papy-boum. Ainsi, cette étude a pour but de prévoir l'évolution des adhérents de Ter'élevage. Une première enquête succincte a été soumise à une grande partie des adhérents pour réaliser un état des lieux du sociétariat de l'entreprise et déterminer la proportion de chaque type d'éleveurs qui souhaitent augmenter ou diminuer les trois types de production bovine (lait, vaches allaitantes, engraissement). Ensuite, une seconde enquête plus complète mais aussi plus ciblée, a permis de déterminer l'ampleur des diminutions et des augmentations, ainsi que de comprendre les choix de ces éleveurs. Il en résulte une augmentation des vaches allaitantes. En effet, les diminutions sont rares alors que beaucoup sont intéressés par le développement de cette production. Pour l'engraissement, nous distinguerons la production de taurillons et l'engraissement de femelles. L'étude montre que la production de taurillons va stagner puisque les créations d'ateliers vont juste compenser la diminution de ceux qui souhaitent profiter de l'opportunité du découplage. Cependant, la conjoncture sera déterminante. Par contre, l'engraissement de femelles risque de se développer car cette production permet de valoriser l'herbe et ne demande pas trop d'investissements. Enfin, la production laitière devrait approximativement se maintenir, mais le gain de productivité induira une diminution du nombre de vaches semblable à ce qu'on a connu ces dernières années. La coopérative doit, si elle veut faire progresser son activité de commercialisation, continuer d'accompagner les éleveurs qui envisagent d'augmenter leur production, mais aussi encourager les autres à maintenir leur activité. Elle pourrait également, dans le but d'avoir plus de bovins maigres à disposition, prospecter d'avantage les naisseurs qui sont en proportion bien plus restreinte au sein du sociétariat que dans la région.
