Download or read book La philo pour enfants expliquée aux adultes written by Johanna Hawken and published by Temps Présent éditions. This book was released on 2021-11-29 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book The Problem of the Unity of Science written by Acad Emie Internationale de Philosophie Des Sciences and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2001 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The unity of science has been a widely discussed issue both in the philosophy of science and within several sciences. Reductionism has often been seen as the means of bringing the different sciences to a fundamental unity by reference to some basic science, but it shows many limitations. Multidisciplinarity and interdisciplinarity have also been proposed as methodologies for attaining unity without underestimating the diversity of the sciences. This volume starts with a clarification of the possible meanings of this unity and then discusses the features of the mentioned approaches to unity, evaluating the success and the shortcomings of the unification programme among different sciences and within a single science.

Book Synopsis Nelson Goodman's Theory of Symbols and Its Applications by : Catherine Z. Elgin
Download or read book Nelson Goodman's Theory of Symbols and Its Applications written by Catherine Z. Elgin and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 1997 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A challenger of traditions and boundaries A pivotal figure in 20th-century philosophy, Nelson Goodman has made seminal contributions to metaphysics, epistemology, aesthetics, and the philosophy of language, with surprising connections that cut across traditional boundaries. In the early 1950s, Goodman, Quine, and White published a series of papers that threatened to torpedo fundamental assumptions of traditional philosophy. They advocated repudiating analyticity, necessity, and prior assumptions. Some philosophers, realizing the seismic effects repudiation would cause, argued that philosophy should retain the familiar framework. Others considered the arguments compelling, but despaired of doing philosophy without the framework. Goodman disagreed with both factions. Rather than regretting the loss of structure, he capitalized on the opportunities that arise when the strictures of tradition are loosened.

Book Synopsis Langue(s) et littérature de jeunesse by : Britta Benert
Download or read book Langue(s) et littérature de jeunesse written by Britta Benert and published by LIT Verlag Münster. This book was released on 2019 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
