Book Synopsis Spain, approaching SCUM state? by : José Quintás Alonso
Download or read book Spain, approaching SCUM state? written by José Quintás Alonso and published by Bubok. This book was released on 2015-07-10 with total page 63 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "I have seen it fit to draw attention to the SCUM Manifesto, written by Valerie Jean Solanas (born in Ventnor, New Jersey, 1936). Excerpts are included from her text to present her opinions on the problems she saw with society and to show her vision of a "perfect" future society and how both women and men would function (or not) in that society. The reader should not be surprised in any way, but rather should keep in mind the contradiction the Manifesto poses to advanced society, even though some feminist centers recognize its ideas as valid and they can even be found in some aspects of the current Spanish law against gender violence (LIVG).Websites and other visuals are included in the text in order to demonstrate the relevance of the Manifesto, as surprising and categorical as it is in its claims. The text provides an excellent opportunity to highlight something fundamental: the law (LIVG) does not take into account gender violence exercised by women on men, and it also does not explain why there cannot be gender violence without having or having had (at some point) an emotional relationship between the perpetrator (man) and the victim (woman), or why it discriminates based on sex and eliminates the presumption of innocence on behalf of the accused male.It is convenient to rethink these issues in the heat of empirical evidence rather than ideological evidence, and seek agreement with neighboring countries (EU-28)."

Book Synopsis Arrugas en el tiempo by : George Smoot
Download or read book Arrugas en el tiempo written by George Smoot and published by Grano de Sal. This book was released on 2018-11-21 with total page 512 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Aquinas as Authority by : Harm J. M. J. Goris
Download or read book Aquinas as Authority written by Harm J. M. J. Goris and published by Peeters Publishers. This book was released on 2002 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is no doubt that Thomas Aquinas, together with Augustine, is among the most influential authorities in the history of Western Christian theology. Through the centuries, theologians and philosophers have interpreted Aquinas and (re-)constructed his thought in various ways. As a result of this, a very rich variety of theological and philosophical positions have appeared that claim to be inspired by the thought of Thomas Aquinas. Positions like these are often labelled as a form of 'Thomism'. Although this can be helpful in bringing some order into the history of thought, there is also a deceptive side to it. Any classification runs the risk of obscuring the multiplicity of interests that have inspired the use of Aquinas as authority. On closer investigation many questions arise. What aims did Aquinas' recipients have in mind and how did an appeal to Aquinas function in their attempts to reach these aims? To what extent has their adoption of Aquinas' ideas and approaches been successful or unsuccessful in answering new questions, and in meeting the problems of their times? And, finally, what can we learn from these divergent forms of 'Thomism'? To these questions the Thomas Institute at Utrecht devoted its second conference, which was held from Thursday December 14 to Saturday December 16, 2000. This book collects a selection of the studies that were presented.
