Grâce à ce modèle et à son expérimentation sur un espace relativement vaste, nous avons cherché à mettre en évidence le rôle de ces villes dans la recomposition des territoires dont nous sommes les témoins depuis environ 30 ans. Cette recomposition illustre parfaitement l'intérêt d'appréhender l'espace non plus sous une forme d'opposition rural - urbain, mais plutôt au travers des relations qu'entretiennent ces villes-mère et leurs aires d'influence pour former un véritable réseau de territoires.
