Chacun comprend bien que le stress provoqué peut rapidement mener à une situation d’épuisement, mettant ces personnes dans une situation à risque. En conséquence, le rôle du professionnel consiste en la mise en place d'interventions ciblées et adaptées à la personne afin de promouvoir la santé.Méthode : Revue de littérature utilisant les bases de données scientifiques : Cinhal, Medline et la Base de Données en Santé Publique. Les mots-clés utilisés pour les recherches sont les suivants : aidants naturels, proches aidants, soignants informels, domicile, soins à domicile, fin de vie, soins palliatifs, phase terminale de cancer, infirmier, rôle infirmer, soin infirmier, rôle professionnel, compétences professionnelles, soutien et accompagnement. Les limites utilisées sont en lien avec l'âge de la population cible, l’année de parution des articles, la langue et le domaine spécifique.Résultats : Nos premières recherches ont été fructueuses car de nombreux articles traitaient de nos différents concepts. Cependant ils ne faisaient pas le lien entre eux. Une recherche plus affinée nous a permis de sélectionner huit articles touchant quatre dimensions : l'expérience des proches naturels, les types d'aides nécessaires, l'impact psychologique du rôle de proche naturel et l'impact du savoir-être de l'infirmière sur la qualité du soutien.Discussion et perspectives : D'une façon consensuelle, tous les auteurs reconnaissent le fardeau qui pèse sur les épaules des proches aidants et tous cherchent à l'alléger en proposant trois types d'aide : pratique, matérielle, et informationnelle. Les interventions professionnelles proposées ont donc pour but la prévention de l'épuisement du proche aidant. Elles s'inscrivent dans le domaine de l'évaluation clinique permettant de mettre en évidence la vulnérabilité des proches aidants afin de les prendre en charge de manière ciblée et adaptée. Un axe est également focalisé sur l'enseignement et l'information, notamment au niveau des gestes quotidiens et de la gestion des médicaments. Enfin, un volet traite de la relation, condition de départ pour permettre une mise en place optimale des interventions de soutien.Conclusion : Les résultats de notre revue de littérature contribuent d'une part, à l'élaboration d'interventions infirmières basées sur des preuves scientifiques, d'autre part, ils constituent une ressource d'argumentation fondée sur des résultats probants, permettant de défendre la posture professionnelle infirmière.
