Das dritte Kapitel beschreibt die Erziehung wie auch die adaptiven Lehrkompetenzen in heterogenen Klassen. Anschließend gibt der Text einen Einblick in die Studie MiMe – Migration und Mehrsprachigkeit, die sich mit den Ergebnissen der österreichischen Bildungsstarttestungen des Jahres 2012 befasst. Im fünften Kapitel schreibe ich über interkulturelles Handeln und Denken. Ich versuche, die unterschiedlichen Perspektiven und Herausforderungen bezüglich der kulturellen Vielfalt in Schulen darzulegen und gebe Anregungen und Lösungsvorschläge für eine adäquate Reaktion im Kontakt mit Interkulturalität.

Es lohnt sich deswegen, die Maßnahmen zu untersuchen, durch die es Schweden und Kanada weit besser gelingt, diesen Kindern eine erfolgreiche Schulkarriere zu ermöglichen: Nicht nur zielgenauere Förderung, sondern auch eine bessere Zusammenarbeit mit den Eltern ist wichtig.

Bedeutsame Differenzen ergibt nur ein projektiver Test, in dem Minoritätenkinder wenig aggressiv reagieren. Ferner beeinflussen unterrichtliche Sozialformen die Konzentration den Kinder je nach Kulturzugehörigkeit. Die Ergebnisse werden auf ihre schulpädagogische Bedeutung hin diskutiert und münden in ein Programm für eine erfolgversprechende kulturell sensible Unterrichtsforschung.

The empirical studies focus on different populations of pupils, most of them located in various parts of Switzerland, and emphasise the potential residing in shared or transferred resources between their heritage languages and the languages spoken in the region to which their family has immigrated. The goal of all studies was to gain an understanding of the factors, both linguistic and non-linguistic in nature, that contribute to the development of language skills in both the heritage and school languages. Theoretical assumptions are put to the test via hypothesis testing and the generally shared assumptions on bilingual education are questioned based on the data. Furthermore, methodological problems in the investigation of linguistic interdependence are discussed. This book contributes to the scholarly investigation of potential beneficial effects in academic proficiency across languages in migrant children.
