Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kristopher Kris was something right from the time he was born. He put his arms out and wanted to be hugged and smiled at. Just with that he was happy and satisfied. He carried that through his life. After he grew up and took over his fathers business, he became a whiz at it. His father started Communication Systems in the early stages. Kris became a genius at it and like his dad he took the business to a new level and was at the for front of communications at the time. Kris made millions, but the way he did it was extraordinary and different. Kris was wealthy, adventurous, intriguing, dynamic and he was pretty tough. He was a entrepreneur and became a philanthropist. He was a giving person and enjoyed that the most. I take you through a ride in his life up till when he is at the top of his game that you will enjoy. It is exciting, different and fun to see how he handles himself and all the ups and downs he comes across along the way. Like me, I hope you will see what a real piece of work Kris is. Kris did things his way and it was a good way. He will get your attention. I am a man who has led a pretty good life over all. I have done a lot of different things over the years and was somewhat successful to a certain point. I have seen a lot of things over the years. My greatest accomplishments were getting through it all. I brought up a family and have children that are successful and they are doing well for themselves. I have had a lot of different jobs over the years and that was what got me this far. Now I am at the point in my life where I thought I should write about some of the things that have fascinated me in a imaginary way. I wrote this book because Kristopher Kris is someone who I think a lot of men would like to be. I made Kris in a lot of different flavors and ways that will get your attention. See if Kris can get your attention like he got mine.

Book excerpt: “Stunning . . . A beautiful, sprawling, and generous book. Jansma is a brilliantly talented writer, but he also has a unique insight into what friends mean to one another, and what it means to be part of a city in which you never quite belong, but can’t quite bring yourself to leave. It’s a heartfelt novel, tender and painful and cathartic all at once, and even if the characters belong to New York, the story belongs to us all.” —NPR December, 2008. A heavy snowstorm is blowing through Manhattan and the economy is on the brink of collapse, but none of that matters to a handful of guests at a posh holiday party. Five years after their college graduation, the fiercely devoted friends at the heart of this richly absorbing novel remain as inseparable as ever: editor and social butterfly Sara Sherman, her troubled astronomer boyfriend George Murphy, loudmouth poet Jacob Blaumann, classics major turned investment banker William Cho, and Irene Richmond, an enchanting artist with an inscrutable past. Amid cheerful revelry and free-flowing champagne, the friends toast themselves and the new year ahead—a year that holds many surprises in store. They must navigate ever-shifting relationships with the city and with one another, determined to push onward in pursuit of their precarious dreams. And when a devastating blow brings their momentum to a halt, the group is forced to reexamine their aspirations and chart new paths through unexpected losses. Kristopher Jansma’s award-winning debut novel, The Unchangeable Spots of Leopards, was praised for its “wry humor” and “charmingly unreliable narrator” in The New Yorker and hailed as “F. Scott Fitzgerald meets Wes Anderson” by The Village Voice. In Why We Came to the City, Jansma offers an unforgettable exploration of friendships forged in the fires of ambition, passion, hope, and love. This glittering story of a generation coming of age is a sweeping, poignant triumph.

Silas thinks so when he lets the kids he meets on the Furman University campus think he is a fellow student. He figures he'll never see them again, and it feels good to be thought of as an "equal" to such intelligent and passionate young people. What could be the harm? Only Silas learns that even the smallest fib has a way of snowballing until it is an avalanche roaring down the mountain at you. He becomes entangled with the group, and things become even more complicated as he starts to fall in love with Kris, a relationship at once true but built on the kernel of a lie. Silas doesn't want to hurt anyone in the group, especially Kris, but he also doesn't want to lose the first friends he has ever really had in his life. He has put himself in an impossible situation and will have to find a way out while minimizing the emotional damage, even though someone is bound to be hurt. In the end, Silas is left with a question whose answer is not as easy as he used to think: is there any such thing as a harmless white lie?

Scott Fitzgerald meets Wes Anderson" (The Village Voice) in this inventive and witty debut about a young man’s quest to become a writer and the misadventures in life and love that take him around the globe—from the author of Why We Came to the City As early as he can remember, the narrator of this remarkable novel has wanted to become a writer. From the jazz clubs of Manhattan to the villages of Sri Lanka, Kristopher Jansma’s hopelessly unreliable—yet hopelessly earnest—narrator will be haunted by the success of his greatest friend and literary rival, the brilliant Julian McGann, and endlessly enamored with Evelyn, the green-eyed girl who got away. A profound exploration of the nature of truth and storytelling, this delightful picaresque tale heralds Jansma as a bold, new American voice.

Historicizing Experiences of the Pandemic provides insights into the experience of the Covid19 pandemic from an historical and sociological perspective. Using the first-hand testimonies submitted as part of the #RecordCovid19 project as its inspiration, the chapters in this edited collection explore and contextualise the initial responses to the Covid19 pandemic. The collection examines people’s relationships with Covid19 as an historical event, including their own experiences of living through history; their relationship with their surroundings, including their relationships with family, the soundscapes and the emotional environments of a pandemic world; the impact and tone of political rhetoric, including the use (and misuse) of wartime myths and language in the United Kingdom; and finally, what lessons can be learnt from how people discuss their own personal stories and what lessons can we draw from previous examples of storytelling in moments of crisis. The result is a fascinating and rich discussion derived from an archive full of idiosyncratic experiences of life changing during the Covid19 pandemic.
