Book excerpt: THIS BOOK ADDRESSES VITAL QUESTIONS CONCERNING ENDTIME EVENTS DEPICTED IN THE BOOK OF REVELATION AND THE CALLING OF WARRIOR-SPIRITED CHRISTIANS OF THIS GENERATION. We are right on the verge of devastating events that will create great fear and chaos throughout the world and especially in our comfort-seeking nation. These are end-time events that are quite mystifying but extremely critical for this generation of Christianity to understand. The mission of this book is to provide a clearer understanding of these times by looking at biblical prophecy through our 21st century eyes. It is intended to feed the warrior spirit within that Christian remnant who are aware of the tremendous challenges that lie before us and are seeking guidance as to what we are about to confront, and how to "be ready." Hopefully, this book will encourage many Christians who are discerning that troubling times are about to descend upon the United States, as well as the entire world, to begin preparing now. Those who have seriously prepared will be among the Christian leaders in the Army of God who will stand strong in the glorious power of our Lord in the midst of these catastrophic times. This in-depth study of the Book of Revelation is truly a serious field guide to help prepare Christian warriors for the great tribulations which will precede the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ to restore His kingdom on the earth. Don Bell is currently a partner in a CPA firm in the Pacific Northwest. Additionally, he served in the Marine Corps for twenty years including two tours on the front-lines of Vietnam. He retired as a major at age 38, but was also enlisted for six of those years. Don also attended seminary where he received a Masters in Divinity and sometime later, a Doctor of Ministry specializing in Strategic Leadership. www.knighthoodofchristianwarriors.com

Book excerpt: The true knights of the Middle Ages were passionate about their faith, their relationship with Christ, and their dedication to living by the virtues of Scripture. The order of knighthood was esteemed by all, pursued by many, yet held by only few. The lifestyles, virtues, and commitments held by these knights who were half warriors and half priests were second to none in the medieval era, as well as today. The order of knighthood provided a code to live by a set of guidelines and practices that instilled honor, strength, and valor. This same order also served to set their lives on a track that helped safeguard them against self-inflicted trouble and heartache, insuring they could enjoy God's best for their lives.

Book excerpt: The ancient warrior code which persisted in medieval Christian Europe dictated that a man's greatest virtues were physical strength, skill at arms, bravery, daring, loyalty to the chieftain and solidarity within the tribe. The primitive Church had been diametrically opposed to such ideals, however by the early 8th century the Church had grown wealthy, and the Saracen invasions of Spain and France posed a threat to that wealth. The Roman Church began to support war in defence of the faith, and by channelling the martial spirit into the service of God, the brutal warrior of the past was transformed into a guardian of society.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today's Christians need to understand what enlistment in the Army of God truly entails. This in-depth study of the Book of Revelation is written for the purpose of being a serious field guide to help prepare Christian warriors for the great tribulations which precede the coming of our Lord, Jesus Christ to restore His kingdom upon the earth. It is intended to feed the warrior spirit within that Christian remnant who are aware of the tremendous challenges that lie shortly before us and are seeking guidance as to what we are about to confront, and how to "be ready." Although there are many different viewpoints concerning eschatology within American churches, a common ground between them is that they are all warm and fuzzy teachings that fail to challenge Christians to prepare for the reality of the coming tribulations that our Lord, Jesus Christ continually warned us about. This book is designed to reach out to those Christians who sigh and groan over the increasingly sinful abominations being embraced by our country, with the hope of raising up strong, strategic leaders who will guide many to prepare for the challenging events that are rapidly descending upon America and the entire world. Christian Warriors - we are no longer free to play the role of civilians-for dark times are coming providing tremendous opportunities to be a strong light for the kingdom of God.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The medieval code of chivalry demanded that warrior elites demonstrate fierce courage in battle, display prowess with weaponry, and avenge any strike against their honor. They were also required to be devout Christians. How, then, could knights pledge fealty to the Prince of Peace, who enjoined the faithful to turn the other cheek rather than seek vengeance and who taught that the meek, rather than glorious fighters in tournaments, shall inherit the earth? By what logic and language was knighthood valorized? In Holy Warriors, Richard Kaeuper argues that while some clerics sanctified violence in defense of the Holy Church, others were sorely troubled by chivalric practices in everyday life. As elite laity, knights had theological ideas of their own. Soundly pious yet independent, knights proclaimed the validity of their bloody profession by selectively appropriating religious ideals. Their ideology emphasized meritorious suffering on campaign and in battle even as their violence enriched them and established their dominance. In a world of divinely ordained social orders, theirs was blessed, though many sensitive souls worried about the ultimate price of rapine and destruction. Kaeuper examines how these paradoxical chivalric ideals were spread in a vast corpus of literature from exempla and chansons de geste to romance. Through these works, both clerics and lay military elites claimed God's blessing for knighthood while avoiding the contradictions inherent in their fusion of chivalry with a religion that looked back to the Sermon on the Mount for its ethical foundation.

Book excerpt: The monk and the knight -- the two quintessentially medieval European heroes -- were combined in the Knights Templar and in the other military orders founded in the era of the Crusades. With characteristic eloquence, Bernard of Clairvaux voices the cleric's view of knights, warfare, and the conquest of the Holy Land in five chapters on the knights' vocation. Then the cistercian abbot who never visited Palestine and discouraged monks who proposed doing so, in another eight chapters, provides a spiritual tour of the pilgrimage sites guarded by this 'new kind of knighthood and one unknown to ages gone by.'

Book excerpt: Focusing on the front-line soldiers who fought for their tribes, their cities, their overlords and their countries-from the Ancient Greeks who repelled the invading Persians in the 5th century to the US Marines in action in Korea, Vietnam and the Persian Gulf, this visual history paints a compelling portrait of the front-line soldier through 2,500 years of history. The third in a series of illustrated military history books, following the highly successful Battle and Weapon, Warrior features vivid accounts of daily life, training, and tactics of the ordinary fighting man. There are also features on the kit they carried and the weapons they used, as well as the part they played in significant battles. In addition to celebrated soldiers of Europe and North America there are sections on equally formidable warriors from other parts of the world, such as the Mongol horsemen of the 13th century, the Aztecs, the Samurai of 17th-century Japan, New Zealand's Maori and the Zulus of South Africa. Warrior is organized into six sections, covering six distinct periods in the history of warfare: Phalanxes and Legions deals with the warfare of Ancient Greece and Rome; Conquest and Chivalry explores the age of warriors who fought for either honor or plunder; Pikemen and Musketeers charts the advent of gunpowder in the 16th century; Empires and Frontiers deals with expansion of empires and the clashes of colonization; Trenches and Dogfights looks at the mechanized warfare of World War I and II, when the development of tanks, aeroplanes and submarines as weapons of war marks the beginning of a completely new era; and Guerillas and Commandos shows that despite the proliferation of death-dealing machines the ordinary soldier still retains a role, sometimes highly specialized, such as helicopter-borne infantry, or guerrilla forces like the Vietcong, who managed to resist the most powerful army on earth.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The quintessential image of the hero for GOD, the Knight, half warrior and half saint, stands for everything good, strong, and honorable in the human spirit. This book contains twenty-five years of research on true knighthood: the refined and essential virtues, elements, techniques and strategies to wage successful war against Evil. Taken from the lives, stories, and advice of warriors, saints, monks, priests, and pious people, these strategies show specifically and very concretely how to be a knight and hero. The book explains - How does a knight use purity to make himself stronger in physical, as well as mental and spiritual combat? - How does a knight find a state of Grace? - How does a knight develop his moral courage and his ability to sacrifice? - Why meekness and humility is the root of true strength, - How great courage is directly derived from fear of GOD, - How sacrifice and asceticism can be used to defeat demons, - How Faith can be developed and improved. - The techniques of Sir Ramon Lull, Rodrigo De Bivar, Charles Martel, Sir Miguel Cervantes, and saints such as Ignatius, Louis, Francis, Augustine, Aquinas and many more Every question is answered. Only one thing remains. May GOD grant us HIS Grace.
