Dr Koulouri has co-edited volumes on Energy Security (Palgrave Macmillan 2019), and on the Water-Energy-Food Nexus (Routledge 2019). Nikolai Mouraviev is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Business, Law and Social Sciences, Abertay University, Dundee, Scotland, UK. Previously he has held teaching positions at KIMEP University (Kazakhstan); Wayne State University (US); and Viterbo University (US). Part of his research focuses on public-private collaboration in developing nations, and he has published extensively in this area including a monograph (Palgrave Macmillan 2017) and an edited volume (Cambridge Scholars Publishing 2017). In addition, his research interests include entrepreneurship and governance of the energy sector. Dr Mouraviev has co-authored six books, including two research monographs, and published more than 50 papers. .

Building on complexity-thinking, it contends that in the context of change and complex life, challenges are most efficiently dealt with, at the source, 'locally', to make 'the global' more responsive and sustainable. Resilience as self-governance is advanced as an overriding framework to explore its constitutive elements - identity, ‘good life’, local coping strategies and support infrastructures - which, when mobilized, can turn communities into ‘peoplehood’ in the face of adversity. It is argued that these communities of relations, self-organised and self-aware of their worth, is what makes them so resilient to crises, and what helps them to transform with change; and how they should be governed today. Book excerpt: Bridging foreign policy analysis and international political economy, this volume offers a new look at the problem of agency in comparative regional integration studies. It examines evolving regional integration projects in the Eurasian space, defined as the former Soviet Union countries and China, and the impact that Russian foreign policy has had on integration in the region. Mikhail Molchanov argues that new regionalism in Eurasia should be seen as a reactive response to contemporary challenges that these developing states face in the era of globalization. Regional integration in this part of the world treads the unknown waters and may not simply repeat the early steps in the evolution of the European Union. The question of a hegemonic leadership in particular, as exercised by a country that spearheads regional integration efforts, animates much of the discussion offered in the book. Moreover, Eurasian regionalisms are plural phenomena because of complementary and competing projects that engage the same, or partially overlapping, groups of countries. By combining foreign policy studies with an examination of the international political economy of regionalism in Eurasia the author furthers our understanding of new regionalism, both theoretically and empirically.
