The Ides of March fall on March 15th in the old Roman calendar. Caesar brushes off the soothsayer’s warning. Unbeknownst to Caesar, a conspiracy is being hatched. It is lead by Cassius, the brother-in-law of Marcus Brutus. Brutus is a good friend of Caesar’s, who has no reason to distrust him. Cassius is concerned that Caesar is becoming too powerful and that for the good of Rome, he must be murdered. This annotated edition includes a biography and critical essay.

His extant works, including some collaborations, consist of about 38 plays, 154 sonnets, two long narrative poems, and a few other verses, the authorship of some of which is uncertain. Sir Sidney Lee (1859 – 1926) was an English biographer and critic. He was a lifelong scholar and enthusiast of Shakespeare. His article on Shakespeare in the fifty-first volume of the Dictionary of National Biography formed the basis of his Life of William Shakespeare. This full-length life is often credited as the first modern biography of the poet.

In particular, Breen contends that more specific comparisons should be made between the Gospels and ancient literature. Breen stresses that this reading invites narrative critics to place more emphasis on examining the use of sources and the importance of intertextual and historical information that the author introduces to the text. Breen places emphasis on the relationship between Jews and non-Jews in ancient Galilee and Palestine, and challenges the long-supported theory that Jesus did not minister to non-Jews beyond two or three exceptions. Demonstrating that Jesus is inclusive of everyone who comes to him, even though he was sent primarily to the Jews. Breen argues that the portrait which Matthew creates is one of a Jewish Messiah who is on a mission to restore Israel so that the restored people of God can bless the nations. Concluding that rather than two conflicting missions, the audience of the gospel is encouraged to view the healing of non-Jews during Jesus's ministry as further proof that the Jewish Messiah is bringing restoration to Israel.
