Book excerpt: Journeys into Radiance is a compilation of messages that were telepathically received from the realms of light where the angels and the Ascended Masters dwell. The messages were received in a group setting where people came together to meditate and commune with the celestial realms. The focus of this activity was to be in service to God and the Divine Plan for planet earth. The information received was recorded and later transcribed for this book. All of those present could feel the infusion of Grace and Light that accompanies this work. It is hoped that all of those that read this book will receive of that Grace.

Book excerpt: In a world with fading faith and growing darkness, a glimmer of hope faintly shines in the poetic words of a forgotten prophecy. It speaks of good, evil, and an ancient force that promises the destruction of the world. Welcome to Erronia; a land of lush forests, towering mountain ranges, bustling cities, and diverse inhabitants. It is here that people's hearts wane, and fears wax. It is here that the destruction looms. There are those, however, that fight to save Erronia. There are those that will not stand by idly and watch as their world dies. Join an old wizard, Symon, as he guides a group of misfit youngsters along a path that is not entirely known to them, but essential to the survival of their world. It will be a journey of sacrifice and maturity, but also one of courage and perseverance. Blood and tears will be shed as these children fight to overcome not only the evils of the world, but the chaos of growing up far from home with enemies following every new step. Will the struggle prove too much for them?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Under the Soviet regime, millions of zeks (prisoners) were incarcerated in the forced labor camps, the Gulag. There many died of starvation, disease, and exhaustion, and some were killed by criminals and camp guards. In 1939, as the Nazis and Soviets invaded Poland, many Polish citizens found themselves swept up by the Soviet occupation and sent into the Gulag. One such victim was Julius Margolin, a Pinsk-born Jewish philosopher and writer living in Palestine who was in Poland on family matters. Margolin's Journey into the Land of the Zeks and Back offers a powerful, first-person account of one of the most shocking chapters of the violent twentieth century. Opening with the outbreak of World War II in Poland, Margolin relates its devastating impact on the Jews and his arrest and imprisonment in the Gulag system. During his incarceration from 1940 to 1945, he nearly died from starvation and overwork but was able to return to Western Europe and rejoin his family in Palestine. With a philosopher's astute analysis of man and society, as well as with humor, his memoir of flight, entrapment, and survival details the choices and dilemmas faced by an individual under extreme duress. Margolin's moving account illuminates universal issues of human rights under a totalitarian regime and ultimately the triumph of human dignity and decency. This translation by Stefani Hoffman is the first English-language edition of this classic work, originally written in Russian in 1947 and published in an abridged French version in 1949. Circulated in a Russian samizdat version in the USSR, it exerted considerable influence on the formation of the genre of Gulag memoirs and was eagerly read by Soviet dissidents. Timothy Snyder's foreword and Katherine Jolluck's introduction contextualize the creation of this remarkable account of a Jewish world ravaged in the Stalinist empire--and the life of the man who was determined to reveal the horrors of the gulag camps and the plight of the zeks to the world.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Einojuhani Rautavaara (1928–2016) has been called Finland’s most notable musical export after Sibelius. His prolific output includes eleven operas; eight symphonies; eleven concertos; choral works for the Orthodox, Lutheran, and Roman Catholic churches; secular choral works; chamber music; vocal solos; and keyboard works. Many of these works were commissioned by internationally known performers and ensembles including Vladimir Ashkenazy, Richard Stoltzman, Hilary Hahn, Anne Akiko Meiers, Gerald Finley, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Juilliard School of Music Orchestra. Perhaps most frequently performed are his Cantus Arcticus, a concerto for recorded arctic birds and orchestra, Angel of Light, his seventh symphony, and the Lorca choral suite depicting Death as a stalker in a Spanish village. Rautavaara’s Journey in Music is divided into two sections; the first a biography and discussion of works that show his various style changes, from neoclassical, to twelve-tone, to neoromantic, and finally to a personal expressive style combining elements of twelve-tone and tonality. The second part divides his works by genre and gives more detailed information of stylistic analysis, libretto, provenance, and, often, reception.
