Download or read book Tribe, Space and Mobilisation written by Maguni Charan Behera and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-03-25 with total page 467 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents multidisciplinary critical engagement in Tribe-British relations, the interfacing between colonial mind and tribal worldview, and some of their contemporary implications to conceptualise tribal space and mobilisation at national, regional, and native levels. The approach, argument, and theoretical underpinnings introduce a new perspective dimension of enquiry in tribal studies and enlarge its scope as a distinct academic discipline. It provides theoretical and methodological insights and an innovative analytical frame for a grand intellectual engagement beyond the boundary of conventional disciplines but within the interactive matrix of India’s social, cultural, political, religious, and economic space. The book is a pioneering work in the emerging field of tribal studies and a vital reference point for students and academics and non-academics alike who are engaged in tribal issues.

Book Synopsis Annual Bibliography of Indian Archaeology by : E.C.L. During Caspers

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When in 1925 the initiative was taken by the Kern Institute Leiden to start the publica tion of an Annual Bibliography of Indian Archaeology, the Board of the Institute could do so with confidence, as it was sure of the assistance of scholars all over the world as to the supply of publications as well as of information. With the help of this material a bibliography could be compiled by a small team of highly skilled archaeologists who could devote part of their time and attention to such a task for the benefit of their colleagues in all parts of the world. Times since then have changed, and circumstances have become less and less favourable. To find classified labour for the compilation and editing of such a bibliography has become extremely difficult, and this the more so as this work cannot be paid in accordance with the standards for this branch of classified documentation. The work has to be done as a part of the daily routine work even a scholar in today's time is expected to perform, and which he cannot but consider as being detrimental to the performing of those parts of his work, that demand the use of those qualifications that actually make him the expert.

Book Synopsis Encyclopedia of Primitive Tribes in India by : P.K. Mohanty
Download or read book Encyclopedia of Primitive Tribes in India written by P.K. Mohanty and published by Gyan Publishing House. This book was released on 2003-11 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These two volumes make a comprehensive and analytic anthropological study of 63 major primitive tribes of India in an alphabetical order. Attention has been paid to the significant aspects of the identity of the primitive tribes. These are mainly statutory positions, surnames, tribe s ethnic identity, distribution of population, family and clan, language and literacy, life cycle and related customs, dress, ornaments, food habits , traditional occupations, religious beliefs, festivals, social change and mobility. These volumes will be useful for bureaucrats, planners, anthropologists, teachers and students in India and abroad. The material on these primitive tribes has deep bearing on micro-study gathered from the writings of the reputed academicians. The Bibliography with regard to these volumes is fairly comprehensive. An effort has been made not to leave any old and new publication without giving it proper recognition in these tribes.Vol. 1 : Encyclopaedia of Primitive Tribes of India, Vol. 2 : Encyclopaedia of Primitive Tribes of India
Book Synopsis Inscriptions of the Śarabhapurīyas, Pāṇḍuvaṁśins, and Somavaṁśins by : Ajay Mitra Shastri
Download or read book Inscriptions of the Śarabhapurīyas, Pāṇḍuvaṁśins, and Somavaṁśins written by Ajay Mitra Shastri and published by Motilal Banarsidass Publ.. This book was released on 1995 with total page 676 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work is a product of the Inscriptions of India programme of the Indian Council of Historical Research, undertaken with a view to make inscriptions, dating from circa sixth to fourteenth century a.d., available in handy volumes. Part I of the volume introduces Sarabha-puriyas, Panduvamsins and Somavamsins, who played a major role in shaping the destinies of the Chhattisgarh (Kosala) and the adjoining region of Orissa from about sixth to the early twelfth century a.d. It provides a background to the study of the inscriptions by attempting to deal with their formal aspects like the format, palaeography, language, orthography, contents and methods of dating and to trace, for the first time, the evolution of their draft. Part II presents the formal and historical aspects of the inscrip-tions, critically edited texts and fairly compre-hensive abstracts of the records of the Sarabha-puriyas, Panduvamsins of Mekala and South Kosala, and Somavamsins of Kosala and Orissa. It also includes allied inscriptions like the Mallar plates of the Amararyakula chief Vyaghraraja and the Malga plates of Samanta Indraraja. Some of these inscriptions have not yet been published anywhere.
