It tells the story of everyman Joe Gray, a humble trucker desperate to find evidence for the spiritual world and his own place within it. Lonely in his reluctant agnosticism, yet inspired by a persistent sense of the metaphysical, Joe must endure a harrowing journey beset with mind-bending technological obstacles, heartbreaking setbacks, and near-death experiences, before he has any chance of uncovering the truth. But will it be in time to be reunited with the love of his life? Will this newfound understanding enable him to overcome a dark evil that has grown to threaten the world? Joe’s Trip Around the Sun blurs the line between the physical and spiritual worlds to the point where the reader may question the existence of that demarcation altogether.

Book excerpt: This book is an inspiration of a real character that I use to see when I was a young girl, he roams around the county this was an exceptionally long time ago, but the story is not about his life, it is a fiction from the inspiration of him. The story starts on a normal life that eventually leads to a disaster that causes Joe to turn his back on his old life. He woke up in the most wonderful spirits of the day, the sun was glorious, he was so happy but as the day went on it turned into a nightmare, he started the day making planes for the future and now he was in fear and anguish in the cloud of uncertainty not knowing what the future held for him. So, the day continued in darkness, what would come next? he closes the door on the past he says goodbye to his friends although he did not have a lot of friends, not knowing which way he will turn, the first part of the journey is not pleasant, but on his journey. He meets up with a little friend, his little friend is in the same situation as Joe, so he has now met a little friend in need of his help. They continue the journey together both not knowing where they will end up, there are a few problems along the way, but they struggle on together. Joe eventually decides, so they head to their destination with great difficulty along the way, they eventually end up in safe hand, they get help and make newer friend, and somewhere to stay but not without a bad turn on their journey. It was not an easy path, but they end up safe in the end. There is a chance meeting, or should I say a very unusual meeting with an embarrassing situation that brings a lot of happiness to Joe's life, and life for him and his little friend. Joe and Patch lives get better by the day, and there is a turning point in their lives not one that usually happens to everyone and their lives go from better to great, Joe discovers he has family but he has to travel to see them and that is a great adventure for him, his other friend is Molly and she is a real character, she makes the decision to go with Joe so they both go together, but Molly has her own ideas about what she wants to do, when they get there Joe enjoys his stay with his family, but Molly goes to visit her friend and cousin then explores America. It is a very unusual holiday for Molly not one she was expecting, she is a person that has no family to worry about so she just ups and goes any were she desires, but this holiday was a revelation for her, will she ever want to go away again? Toward the end Joe is getting older so is Patch. Joe has a lot of health problems, and he leads a noticeably quiet life with Patch, he has an incredibly good friend but misses Molly very much. There are a few twists and turns, I have tried to make it more exciting further on into the story. Molly is a bit of a character, although she has never had children she is not a lonely person, she was a very intelligent child, that when she got older she had a very good job as a school teacher and she had lots of friend too so she was always occupied, she retired at an early age and always wanted to travel and the opportunity come along when she met Joe to go to America. Joe and Molly become exceptionally good friends throughout the book. Joe was a quit man with just the simple thing in life that mattered to him, but Molly was an extremely ambitious sort of a person that if she wanted to do something no one on earth would stand in her way, I have grown to like Molly very much in this story.

Joseph - unintentionally stranded in a parallel time - lives, loves and works here under the identity of "Joe Farmer." His only vague hope of returning to his old real life rests on the shoulders of Professor Browns of Columbia University in New York. Wielding a talent that extends beyond the page to the screen, Landsdale has also written episodes for Batman: The Animated Series and Superman: The Animated Series. Conversations with Joe R. Lansdale brings together interviews from newspapers, magazines, and podcasts conducted throughout the prolific author’s career. But color him shocked when the thief who steals from him is his mate—according to his feline half. Decisive, he follows in the footsteps of his brothers and captures Mungo. Now his plan is two-fold. Seduction of his feisty mate and safe passage for his cattle. Easier said than done when danger pounces from left and right during their journey home. Mungo isn’t sure what to make of this cat-man with his propensity for stripping naked. Bossy—yes! But she can’t stop sneaking peeks and then there is the kissing and caressing… Contains two strong characters with opposite goals, passion in the great outdoors, and more annoying dangers impeding their romance than Joe cares to mention!

Book excerpt: Rarely does one have the opportunity to take a journey through someone else's life. Especially a life that witnessed some of modern history's most significant events. Imagine someone who lived during the sinking of the Titanic, the first radio broadcast, man landing on the moon and the introduction of the Internet, not to mention both World Wars and at least a half dozen other major military conflicts--all in a single lifetime. The life experience of George W. Huff, "Joe," were every bit as varied and colorful as the changes in the world around him. Come along as the stories unfold one after the other, decade by decade. Witness first-hand how God orchestrates an extraordinary series of events through the life of an ordinary man, just as He did so often with people of the Bible. Joe describes in his own words, recorded years before his death, how God protected him time and time again, forgave him of his transgressions and transformed his life into one of service resulting in a legacy that would last for all eternity.

A mysterious and conspicuously silent figure in Annette's life for some forty-five years, Joe Kobak at last shared with his daughter his harrowing experiences during World War II, which she has turned into a riveting work of history and memory. Born on the border of Poland and Czechoslovakia, Joe Kobak fled the Nazis, suffered imprisonment by the Russians, then joined Polish forces fighting in France. Later he escaped to London where he spent the duration of the war intercepting Soviet messages. In Joe's War, his daughter captures Joe Kobak's story in his own words, and interweaves it with her own search for a life story she can make sense of. Embarking upon a challenging and poignant journey of her own–retracing her father's footsteps across a barren and unfamiliar Ukraine–the author sheds light on the dark corners of her family history and on some of the darker aspects of the war, bringing history to life in unexpected ways.

Book excerpt: In November 1989 in El Salvador, six Jesuit priests and their two female housekeepers were rousted from their beds and shot as they lay face down on the ground. At first, the George H. W. Bush administration echoed the Salvadoran military's line that the rebels must have done it. When House Speaker Tom Foley tasked a senior congressman with investigating the murders, the people of El Salvador found an unlikely champion in the person of John Joseph Moakley, representative from South Boston. In Joe Moakley's Journey, Mark Robert Schneider charts one of the most unusual transformations in American politics. A native son of South Boston, Moakley was an effective and influential House member, whose greatest influence and legacy is, paradoxically, far from home in the fields of El Salvador and Central America. Though firmly, fiercely grounded in his hometown of South Boston--he never lived anywhere else--from the beginning of this investigation until his death in 2001, issues of Central American justice, peace, and economic development became Joe Moakley's cause.

Book excerpt: "Among the fifty or so Texan survivors of the siege of the Alamo was Joe, the personal slave of Lt. Col. William Barret Travis. First interrogated by Santa Anna, Joe was allowed to depart (along with Susana Dickinson) and eventually made his way to the seat of the revolutionary government at Washington-on-the-Brazos. Joe was then returned to the Travis estate in Columbia, Texas, near the coast. He escaped in 1837 and was never captured. Ron J. Jackson and Lee White have meticulously researched plantation ledgers, journals, memoirs, slave narratives, ship logs, newspapers, personal letters, and court documents to fill in the gaps of Joe's story. "Joe, the Slave Who Became an Alamo Legend" provides not only a recovered biography of an individual lost to history, but also offers a fresh vantage point from which to view the events of the Texas Revolution"--
