He married Florence Claudine Maxwell (1876-1954), daughter of Daniel Kramer Maxwell and Sarah Ellen Tanner, in 1900 in Bourbon, Missouri. She was born in Farmington, Illinois. They were parents of ten children born between 1901 and 1919. The immigrant ancestor, Charles Blittersdorf (b. ca. 1822), was born in Germany. He married Charlotta Kappel in 1852 at Sankt Paulus German Evangelical Church in Cincinnati. They had three children. He married (2) Adah (or Lizzie) Powers (b. ca. 1847) ca. 1868 in Little Rock, Ark. They had three children also.
