Download or read book The Psalms in the New Testament written by Steve Moyise and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 2004-06-08 with total page 267 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers a comprehensive summary of the use of the Psalms at Qumran and in the New Testament. For the first time this collection offers a set of studies which will offer an overview of the role and function of the Psalms in the first century. Each chapter considers matters of textual form, points of particular interest, and hermeneutics. Together, this collection forms an important research tool for Septuagintal and manuscript studies, first-century hermeneutics and the development of Christian apologetics and theology. The contributors have all either written or are writing monographs on their particular section of the New Testament/ Qumran. In a number of cases, the particular chapter will be the first of its kind (such as Steve Moyise's discussion of Psalms in Revelation).

Download or read book Heaven written by Joseph John Bowman and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2016-10-13 with total page 199 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about a place that everyone wants to go to but where is not everyone is going. Its Biblical name is Heaven. The book differentiates between the atmospheric Heaven, the starry Heaven, and Heaven the abode of God. Heaven is a perfect place where there is no sin and sorrow. There is absolute peace. However, there are certain requirements laid down by God for those who are to enter into His presence. First, and foremost, there cannot be any sin or anything that defiles. That automatically bars all of us from being there, because we are all sinners. We are sinners because we have been born with a sinful nature, and then we live lives of sin and rebellion to God. For that, we have to be judged. God has provided a way whereby we can freely enter into Heaven, through accepting the work done by His Son on the cross as our own. Only then will we be able to enter into this place of which we speak. Heaven is far beyond our ability to describe or imagine. It is so beautiful and holy that we can just barely tell of it. Various aspects of Heaven such as Paradise, the Kingdom of God, the Ivory Palaces, are described using direct quotes from Gods Holy Word. The object of the book is to direct the reader to Gods way of salvation and to draw to the attention of each reader some of the beauties of Heaven. As it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him. (I Corinthians 2:9)

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Council of Nicaea in 325 AD marked the beginning of a new era in Christianity. For the first time, doctrines were organized into a single creed. The Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers did most of their writing during and after this important event in Church history. Unlike the previous era of Christian writing, the Nicene and Post-Nicene era is dominated by a few very important and prolific writers. In Volume VIII of the 14-volume collected writings of the Nicenes and Post-Nicenes (first published between 1886 and 1889), readers will find Saint Augustines extensive treatment of the Psalms. Augustine took this book from the Old Testament and wove into it the revelation of Jesus as the savior of humanity. Through the skill of Augustine, it seems as though the Psalms had been written by an oracle who knew that eventually the messiah would come and wrote to pave the way. This volume is a valuable reference book for any Christian wishing to have the psalms illuminated and explained."
