Book excerpt: This book discusses the latest advances in the broadly defined field of advanced manufacturing and process control. It reports on cutting-edge strategies for sustainable production and product life cycle management, and on a variety of people-centered issues in the design, operation and management of manufacturing systems and processes. Further, it presents digital modeling systems and additive manufacturing technologies, including advanced applications for different purposes, and discusses in detail the implementation of and challenges imposed by 3D printing technologies. Based on three AHFE 2020 Conferences (the AHFE 2020 Virtual Conference on Human Aspects of Advanced Manufacturing, the AHFE 2020 Virtual Conference on Advanced Production Management and Process Control and the AHFE 2020 Virtual Conference on Additive Manufacturing, Modeling Systems and 3D Prototyping, the book merges ergonomics research, design applications, and up-to-date analyses of various engineering processes. It brings together experimental studies, theoretical methods and best practices, highlights future trends and suggests directions for further technological developments and the improved integration of technologies and humans in the manufacturing industry.
Download or read book Quantum Networks written by Günter Mahler and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quantum Networks is focused on density matrix theory cast into a product operator representation, particularly adapted to describing networks of finite state subsystems. This approach is important for understanding non-classical aspects such as single subsystem and multi-subsystem entanglement. An intuitive picture evolves of how these features are generated and destroyed by interactions with the environment. This second edition has been revised and enlarged. For better clarity the text has been partly reorganized and figures and formulae are presented in a more attractive way.
Book Synopsis Computer Aided Systems Theory – EUROCAST 2005 by : Roberto Moreno-Díaz
Download or read book Computer Aided Systems Theory – EUROCAST 2005 written by Roberto Moreno-Díaz and published by Springer. This book was released on 2005-10-19 with total page 642 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The concept of CAST, computer aided systems Theory, was introduced by F. Pichler of Linz in the late 1980s to include those computer theoretical and practical developments used as tools to solve problems in system science. It was considered as the third component (the other two being CAD and CAM) that would provide for a complete picture of the path from computer and systems sciences to practical developments in science and engineering. The University of Linz organized the first CAST workshop in April 1988, which demonstrated the acceptance of the concepts by the scientific and technical community. Next, the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria joined the University of Linz to organize the first international meeting on CAST (Las Palmas February 1989), under the name EUROCAST 1989, a very successful gathering of systems theorists, computer scientists and engineers from most European countries, North America and Japan. It was agreed that EUROCAST international conferences would be organized every two years. Thus, the following EUROCAST meetings took place in Krems (1991), Las Palmas (1993), Innsbruck (1995), Las Palmas (1997), Vienna (1999), Las Palmas (2001) and Las Palmas (2003) in addition to an extra-European CAST conference in Ottawa in 1994. Selected papers from those meetings were published as Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science vols. 410, 585, 763, 1030, 1333, 1728, 2178 and 2809 and in several special issues of Cybernetics and Systems: an lnternational Journal.

Book Synopsis Numerical Methods in Fluid Dynamics by : Gary A. Sod
Download or read book Numerical Methods in Fluid Dynamics written by Gary A. Sod and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1985-10-31 with total page 464 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here is an introduction to numerical methods for partial differential equations with particular reference to those that are of importance in fluid dynamics. The author gives a thorough and rigorous treatment of the techniques, beginning with the classical methods and leading to a discussion of modern developments. For easier reading and use, many of the purely technical results and theorems are given separately from the main body of the text. The presentation is intended for graduate students in applied mathematics, engineering and physical sciences who have a basic knowledge of partial differential equations.

Book Synopsis Fast Ion-atom and Ion-molecule Collisions by : Dzevad Belkic
Download or read book Fast Ion-atom and Ion-molecule Collisions written by Dzevad Belkic and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2013 with total page 335 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The principal goal of this book is to provide state-of-the-art coverage of the non-relativistic three- and four-body theories at intermediate and high energy ion-atom and ion-molecule collisions. The focus is on the most frequently studied processes: electron capture, ionization, transfer excitation and transfer ionization. The content is suitable both for graduate students and experienced researchers. For these collisions, the literature has seen enormous renewal of activity in the development and applications of quantum-mechanical theories. This subject is of relevance in several branches of science and technology, like accelerator-based physics, the search for new sources of energy and high temperature fusion of light ions. Other important applications are in life sciences via medicine, where high-energy ion beams are used in radiotherapy for which a number of storage ring accelerators are in full operation, under construction or planned to be built worldwide. Therefore, it is necessary to review this field for its most recent advances with an emphasis on the prospects for multidisciplinary applications. This book is accompanied by Interdisciplinary Research on Particle Collisions and Quantitative Spectroscopy Volume 2 - Fast Collisions of Light Ions with Matter: Charge Exchange and Ionization.

Book Synopsis Jacobians of Matrix Transformations and Functions of Matrix Argument by : A. M. Mathai
Download or read book Jacobians of Matrix Transformations and Functions of Matrix Argument written by A. M. Mathai and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1997 with total page 452 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book concentrates on the topic of evaluation of Jacobians in some specific linear as well as nonlinear matrix transformations, in the real and complex cases, which are widely applied in the statistical, physical, engineering, biological and social sciences. It aims to develop some techniques systematically so that anyone with a little exposure to multivariable calculus can easily follow the steps and understand the various methods by which the Jacobians in complicated matrix transformations are evaluated. The material is developed slowly, with lots of worked examples, aimed at self-study. Some exercises are also given, at the end of each section. The book is a valuable reference for statisticians, engineers, physicists, econometricians, applied mathematicians and people working in many other areas. It can be used for a one-semester graduate level course on Jacobians and functions of matrix argument.
