Download or read book When Pigs Fly written by Rick Carnevali and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2014-01-24 with total page 515 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book chronicles the various methods the author inadvertently employed trying to kill himself during his life. On the farm, evil machinery attempted to have their way with him on several occasions. Later, while recklessly operating old Triumph and Ducati motorcycles, he nearly did the deed to the consternation of the folks. As a state patrolman he almost allowed several insane motorists to complete the job left unfinished by the tractors and bikes. He was forced to chase armed psychopaths the wrong way on the freeway and jerked other motorists out their side window after they tried to run him down. Thirteen years of investigating fatal accidents convinced the author to seek a less gruesome line of work so he took up flying police aircraft instead. As a novice flight instructor the author was attacked in the cockpit by a crazed student pilot who put the plane into a spin. While flying state patrol planes he survived engine failures, dead stick landings, air-borne dog fights with drug runners, and icing encounters so severe he still has nightmares. Flying state personnel and governors in the state's turbo-prop and turbo-jet aircraft had some crazy moments too. Hauling prisoners and serial killers around the country forced the author to always keep his sidearm close by. A narrow escape from an inverted flat spin in an AT6 Texan was the scariest of all. He flew corporate jets after retirement and describes some hairy moments locating radio-collared elk while flying over the Olympic Mountains. Releasing sterile insects over Jamaica was exciting especially after several million of them escaped into the cockpit and tried to gag him one morning. He feels quite fortunate to have survived all the close calls.

Download or read book Girl on a Swing written by Nancy Kennedy and published by Multnomah. This book was released on 2010-10-27 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God Delights in You! Imagine a girl on a swing: leaning backward and easily pumping her legs back and forth, closing her eyes while the wind blows through her hair. She is safe, she is secure, she is free and forgiven. Perhaps you find yourself thinking, I want to feel loved and safe and secure. I want to feel free. I want to turn my face toward heaven and experience God’s smile . Did you know that girl can be you? Because God’s love–a love not based upon your performance, but on Christ’s–proclaims the truth that you are His and He is glad He chose you. This freedom in Christ is meant to become a part of you, something you relish every day. It’s like learning how to swing: it can’t ever be unlearned. So climb on…your time to soar has arrived! Who Is that Girl on a Swing? She’s free. She’s safe. She’s secure. She’s forgiven. She’s happy. She’s a child of God. And so are you. With warm understanding, refreshing humor, and striking biblical honesty, Nancy Kennedy reflects on the ways women often keep themselves from enjoying the freedom that’s already theirs. Because not only do you belong to God, He is glad He chose you. Not only does He love you unconditionally, He likes you! And not only does He lavish you with grace, He smiles upon you. Once you learn how to swing, you can’t un-learn it. Once you know true freedom in Christ, you can’t un-know it. It’s yours for good (and it’s a lot fun). So climb on…it’s time to soar! Endorsements “Ahhh. Nancy ’s words let me be my imperfect self and still know that there is no wind strong enough to release me from my Father’s grip.” Karon Phillips Goodman author of Another Fine Mess, Lord! and the Woman’s Guide series “Nancy Kenndy writes with amazing humor, heart, and insight. Girl on a Swing soars!” Heather Kopp author of Roar: A Christian Family Guide to the Chronicles of Narnia Story Behind the Book The Story Behind the Book “Girl on a Swing came from a greeting card image where a young girl is soaring on a swing. She’s free and at peace, with herself and her surroundings. As I studied that image I came to realize that the girl is me–because in Christ I am free and at rest. God smiles on His own, and I am at peace. But my experience as a speaker at women’s retreats has shown me that many women have difficulty believing that for themselves. This book will help them grasp the truth.” –Nancy Kennedy

Sadly, Polly's Suspect #1 is her new friend and co-star Sharon Fletcher. Sharon was the last person seen with the deceased director. . .and her Emmy matches the dent in Karen's head. The more Polly sniffs, the surer she is that Sharon didn't haul off and bash Karen with her Emmy. But the evidence is mounting, and it'll take all of Polly's wits to save the jailed soap star from a murder rap. . .and a starring role in a real-life drama tentatively entitled Framed! "Jordan cleverly propels the hilarious plot briskly." --I Love a Mystery
