Um diese Potentiale erschöpfend darzustellen, erfolgt neben einer theoretischen Darstellung des transformationalen Führungsstils eine ausführliche Darstellung von aktuellen Studien. Dabei geht es darum, darzustellen, welche in den Studien als nutzbringend für die Mitarbeiter und das Unternehmen beschriebenen Inhalte im Vertrieb umgesetzt werden können. Insgesamt kommt die Arbeit zu dem Schluss, dass die zentralen Inhalte des transformationalen Führungsstils, wie sie in den Studien als positiv für die Mitarbeiterzufriedenheit und den Verkaufserfolg beschrieben werden, auch im Vertrieb umgesetzt werden können. Hierzu werden in der Arbeit Handlungsempfehlungen für die Praxis entwickelt. Einschränkend ist aber darauf hinzuweisen, ob diese Inhalte von jedem Unternehmen (z. B. kleinen Unternehmen) umgesetzt werden können und Führungsverantwortliche für die notwendigen Kompetenzen zur Umsetzung des transformationalen Führungsstils geschult werden können.

Deren Verkaufserfolg wird durch drei Faktoren bestimmt: Charaktereigenschaften und damit verbundenes Rollenverhalten, ihnen übertragene Aufgabeninhalte und Ziele sowie das Führungsverhalten des Vertriebsmanagers. Wie unterschiedlich einzelne Vertriebscharaktere ausfallen können, wird anhand fünf stereotypischer Verkäuferprofile aus dem Bestseller „The Challenger Sale“ aufgezeigt. Daraus wird deutlich, dass die Herausforderung in der Führung letztlich darin liegt, den beim jeweiligen Mitarbeiter notwendigen Führungsbedarf zu erkennen und das Führungsverhalten sowie die Führungsinstrumente individuell an dessen Bedarf anzupassen.

Es wird diskutiert, inwieweit die Spezifika der Führungsstile hinsichtlich deren Greif- und Erlernbarkeit für Führungskräfte definiert werden können. Die Annahme des positiveren Zusammenhanges des Berufserfolges zu aufstiegsförderlicher Führung wurde in den Analysen bestätigt.
