Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Obsession pulls us towards our loving work. Discipline pushes us to do anything. Discipline is overrated. It feels tough, powered & pressured on our routine while true obsession is underrated. Obsession is merely a play, a great pleasurable play from our heart & soul. It doesn't need any perfect routine & our entire life is dedicated to it unknowingly. Discipline is visible with time. If you seek it you can't ever find it. Obsession makes time invisible. It may not be the best of the world but can give you the best feeling of the world. If you often tell yourself to be disciplined then you aren't devoting entirely to your work. It's like telling a gloomy man to become contented. What if I told you to stop being sad when you are sad! So, I can't say to myself, to be disciplined when I'm in my comfort zone. The most intense world's best personalities like Nikola Tesla, Plato, Aristotle, William Shakespeare, Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh, Franz Kafka, Alexander the Great, Alfred Hitchcock, Stephen Hawking, Confucius, Michael Jackson or even Diogenes weren't focused on being disciplined but their obsession & that became irresistible as soon as they loved it. Diogenes once said, there is a false love that will make you something you are not. Suppose you were the last person on this earth, who would you impress? The world is divided between two kinds of personalities, consumed and energetic. If you observe, you will find a lot of people doing arduous work to live out their livelihood. They all feel their work tough and that's what our elders teach us; do the hard work. We all feel work is a burden and we have to do it even when we don't like it. What's the real secret of being energetic? Of course, energy can be faked. Truly, energy can be faked for so long until your mind bursts out and you feel extremely dissatisfied within your soul. Now, how to win the hearts of the audience? How to create the masterpiece that makes you eternal for life? Can you really make your life exciting by yourself? History is often remembered by artists and it's a great myth that we aren't artists. Everyone is an artist. It's not only the painters, writers, directors or musicians who are artists but everyone. If you aren't using your artistic capabilities in your work, you are pushing yourself slowly to get consumed. Irresistible Obsession, the book has carefully crafted thirty well-researched practical techniques for automatic discipline without knowing time & pain, skill mastery and finally work obsession to control your fortune. After researching, analysing history and learning about the world's best personalities, we feel, this book is insanely deep to assist you to find your own soul and the minute details of your most loving work. It's useful for artists, routine work, writers, creative people & most importantly, passionate people who want to live a fulfilled life. With insane techniques, the book, Irresistible Obsession will transform your life forever while making you into the person to reach and accomplish your goals with deep perfection, without making any hurry even with reasonable rest. In gist, it will bring out your best flawlessly even without giving you any pain. Focus is meditation; Multitasking is overrated; Motivation is void and irregular; Genius is overrated; & Interest and curiosity are underrated. A genius can also fail if he doesn't work honest enough. Affirmative, time is an illusion. Almost all people have enough time to shake the world. In this book, we are focusing on being irresistibly obsessed with our passion, so we can become your best, not someone else's best. Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life. - Confucius.

Book excerpt: “Irresistible is a fascinating and much needed exploration of one of the most troubling phenomena of modern times.” —Malcolm Gladwell, author of New York Times bestsellers David and Goliath and Outliers “One of the most mesmerizing and important books I’ve read in quite some time. Alter brilliantly illuminates the new obsessions that are controlling our lives and offers the tools we need to rescue our businesses, our families, and our sanity.” —Adam Grant, New York Times bestselling author of Originals and Give and Take Welcome to the age of behavioral addiction—an age in which half of the American population is addicted to at least one behavior. We obsess over our emails, Instagram likes, and Facebook feeds; we binge on TV episodes and YouTube videos; we work longer hours each year; and we spend an average of three hours each day using our smartphones. Half of us would rather suffer a broken bone than a broken phone, and Millennial kids spend so much time in front of screens that they struggle to interact with real, live humans. In this revolutionary book, Adam Alter, a professor of psychology and marketing at NYU, tracks the rise of behavioral addiction, and explains why so many of today's products are irresistible. Though these miraculous products melt the miles that separate people across the globe, their extraordinary and sometimes damaging magnetism is no accident. The companies that design these products tweak them over time until they become almost impossible to resist. By reverse engineering behavioral addiction, Alter explains how we can harness addictive products for the good—to improve how we communicate with each other, spend and save our money, and set boundaries between work and play—and how we can mitigate their most damaging effects on our well-being, and the health and happiness of our children. Adam Alter's previous book, Drunk Tank Pink: And Other Unexpected Forces that Shape How We Think, Feel, and Behave is available in paperback from Penguin.

Book excerpt: A novel about a wine enthusiast’s descent into addiction, and “the cheerful face that money can put on an unhappy life” (Publishers Weekly). After dedicating countless hours to building his software company—an effort that yields him a fortune—Wilberforce walks into a London restaurant, alone, and orders an extraordinarily expensive 1982 Cháteau Pétrus. It is quite an experience—so he asks for another bottle. From the acclaimed author of Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, this novel traces the journey that leads Wilberforce from the top of the world to hitting rock bottom as he revels in his newfound wealth and more: his taste for the finer things, a love affair, and a variety of friendships, including one with an eccentric and enigmatic wine merchant named Francis Black. At some point along the way, Wilberforce, once an ordinary middle-class child and then a driven, lonely workaholic, convinces himself that he’s finally found the good life. But as his story unspools, he learns that Black’s cellar holds some unpalatable secrets, and that passion comes at a price. “A heart-wrenching tale . . . A mesmerising page-turner.” —The Mail on Sunday “Although Wilberforce’s tale carries universal moral significance, wine lovers in particular will find Torday’s descriptive and narrative powers compelling.” —Booklist

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This edition contains three studies which seem to me to be necessary prolegomena to that analysis of the sexual instinct which must form the chief part of an investigation into the psychology of sex. The first sketches the main outlines of a complex emotional state which is of fundamental importance in sexual psychology; the second, by bringing together evidence from widely different regions, suggests a tentative explanation of facts that are still imperfectly known; the third attempts to show that even in fields where we assume our knowledge to be adequate a broader view of the phenomena teaches us to suspend judgment and to adopt a more cautious attitude. So far as they go, these studies are complete in themselves; their special use, as an introduction to a more comprehensive analysis of sexual phenomena, is that they bring before us, under varying aspects, a characteristic which, though often ignored, is of the first importance in obtaining a clear understanding of the facts: the tendency of the sexual impulse to appear in a spontaneous and to some extent periodic manner, affecting women differently from men. This is a tendency which, later, I hope to make still more apparent, for it has practical and social, as well as psychological, implications. Here—and more especially in the study of those spontaneous solitary manifestations which I call auto-erotic—I have attempted to clear the ground, and to indicate the main lines along which the progress of our knowledge in these fields may best be attained._x000D_ _x000D_ _x000D_

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A look at the mythic, archetypal, and transformational aspects of Snake • Explores how and why Snake was transformed from esteemed advisor and guardian of ancient wisdom to a symbol of deception and evil • Examines Snake’s healing powers, its role in awakening kundalini, and its connections to dreams, shamanism, alchemy, and the Goddess • Shares transformational stories and practical ways that Snake can help us travel through the imaginal realm, gather treasure from the psyche, and shed outgrown aspects of self Entwined with human consciousness since prehistoric times, Snake has always been associated with transformation--from the shedding of its skin to the rising of kundalini energy. In ancient times, Snake served as protector and advisor to gods, goddesses, and royalty. But with the story of Adam and Eve, Snake became the enemy--a tempter and deceiver. How did this happen and why do humans continue to fear and vilify Snake? Inspired by a vivid dream of an immense snake that lost its tail, animal communicator Dawn Baumann Brunke investigates the interwoven history of Snake and humanity and explores how we can once again access Snake’s wisdom and harness its powerful ability to heal, transform, and awaken. Uncovering ties between Snake and Goddess, the author demonstrates how both were systematically suppressed millennia ago with the spread of a patriarchal perspective that valued mastery over nature, God over Goddess. Brunke reveals how myths that originally extolled the virtues of Snake and Goddess were refashioned, recreating their images as debased and untrustworthy. She explores why snakes show up in shamanic journeys and transformational dreams and how their unique presence in our world can serve as catalysts of change, truth-telling, and enlightenment. Examining Snake’s role in awakening human consciousness, Brunke considers the alchemical role of the serpent as well as Snake’s connections to ancient healing, modern medicine, and even the DNA molecule. She shares psycho-activating stories to help trigger transformation and provide graceful movement through the chaos of change. And she offers practical techniques to journey with Snake through inner worlds, to shed confining aspects of self, and to integrate experiences more holistically. Brunke shows how we need to re-embrace the ancient power of Snake to better support our return to a more balanced consciousness--one that reunites nature with spirit, sacred masculine with sacred feminine--as we strive for global change and personal awakening.

The time will come when people will see that they are worth more than the price of the paint.’ I wish they would take me as I am. - Vincent Van Gogh. Jean-Paul Sartre voiced, if victory is told in detail, one can no longer distinguish it from a defeat. What we all want from life! That's the question we should ask ourselves every day as when we earn all the wealth and prosperity of this world then we try focusing on our soul satisfaction but how ravishing it would be if we felt peaceful even in the devastating storm! That even if everything is getting apart and broken around you but a deep solitude is having a permanent home in your soul; and you are so lost that you have no other desires and greed to make you feel satisfied. Vincent William Van Gogh, a Dutch Post-Impressionist Painter, is the most famous and influential figure in the history of modern art but inside he was just a broken artist, combating everything in agony & loneliness but improving himself with his actions. Most people are aware of this genius personality but he held a deep gloominess in his heart. While researching, I asked myself multiple times, Vincent Van Gogh died penniless, in depression, agony, in asylum, & intense loneliness but without any support, food or love, he created the marvellous paintings of all time; so what made him go for so long. Have you ever thought about whether destiny really exists or not? Everything is uncertain then what is fixed. What truly made him Vincent Van Gogh even despite everything that was against him, he created his world's best work even with nothing and we are still complaining because we don't have perfect resources for our work. What made him genius! What fortune he created even with nothing! That's astounding and loving to know! Our research was on Vincent Van Gogh because when everyone is blaming they have less resources, Vincent carved his fortune with nothing and what he weaved in his heart, is a matter of secret to be opened to the entire world and that's a proud moment because if he could accomplish perfection with nothing then why we can’t even with something. Time is an illusion as it makes you realise you have more and you have it but you don't have it until you claim it by utilizing it well. It's damn true and practical that everything is out of control, except your soul. So, if everything around is a mess and you are still at tranquillity then you are with your soul. Your profession is not what brings home your weekly pay check, your profession is. What you're put here on earth to do, with such passion and such intensity that it becomes spiritual in calling. - Vincent Van Gogh.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The term "sexual instinct" may be said to cover the whole of the neuropsychic phenomena of reproduction which man shares with the lower animals. It is true that much discussion has taken place concerning the proper use of the term "instinct," and some definitions of instinctive action would appear to exclude the essential mechanism of the process whereby sexual reproduction is assured. Such definitions scarcely seem legitimate, and are certainly unfortunate. Herbert Spencer's definition of instinct as "compound reflex action" is sufficiently clear and definite for ordinary use. A fairly satisfactory definition of instinct is that supplied by Dr. and Mrs. Peckham in the course of their study On the Instincts and Habits of Solitary Wasps. "Under the term 'instinct,'" they say, "we place all complex acts which are performed previous to experience and in a similar manner by all members of the same sex and race, leaving out as non-essential, at this time, the question of whether they are or are not accompanied by consciousness." This definition is quoted with approval by Lloyd Morgan, who modifies and further elaborates it (Animal Behavior, 1900, p. 21). "The distinction between instinctive and reflex behavior," he remarks, "turns in large degree on their relative complexity," and instinctive behavior, he concludes, may be said to comprise "those complex groups of co-ordinated acts which are, on their first occurrence, independent of experience; which tend to the well-being of the individual and the preservation of the race; which are due to the co-operation of external and internal stimuli; which are similarly performed by all the members of the same more or less restricted group of animals; but which are subject to variation, and to subsequent modification under the guidance of experience." Such a definition clearly justifies us in speaking of a "sexual instinct." It may be added that the various questions involved in the definition of the sexual instinct have been fully discussed by Moll in the early sections of his Untersuchungen über die Libido Sexualis. Of recent years there has been a tendency to avoid the use of the term "instinct," or, at all events, to refrain from attaching any serious scientific sense to it. Loeb's influence has especially given force to this tendency. Thus, while Piéron, in an interesting discussion of the question ("Les Problèmes Actuels de l'Instinct," Revue Philosophique, Oct., 1908), thinks it would still be convenient to retain the term, giving it a philosophical meaning, Georges Bohn, who devotes a chapter to the notion of instinct (La Naissance de l'Intelligence, 1909), is strongly in favor of eliminating the word, as being merely a legacy of medieval theologians and metaphysicians, serving to conceal our ignorance or our lack of exact analysis.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You are extraordinary in which you are effortlessly ordinary. If we look back and perceive how Leonardo Da Vinci became a true Polymath, & gathered knowledge, left thousands of journals and masterpieces like Mona Lisa, yet during his entire life, he found his work not as great as we appreciate and in search of true artistic perfection, he left most of his work unfinished yet the entire universe regard him as the greatest artist ever existed in the history. What makes him special or he was just an ordinary one? Even though Leonardo was a procrastinator and not disciplined, his idea for seeking perfection created the most expensive painting in history. When an artist puts his soul and details into his artwork, it can't be created twice, not even by the same artist because that muse can't be gained by the artist himself even with the same dimension. That energy and aura can’t be created twice. When you are awake as an artist, you will find how monotonous this world is. Instead of asking people what they do for a living; ask them what they do for their soul fulfilment. Let me reveal something about time; you don't own your time but you claim it by utilizing it with your right energy. Living alone isn't arduous but people make it actually because they don't know what to do with their own souls. The more interesting you are within, the less people you will need. In the first book of Ideology Series, the genius habits of Leonardo Da Vinci will surely transform your soulful habits, daily routine and ultimately your fortune. Learning, reading and understanding about such men is like going to the centuries back and then living in the same era and feel his way. You are seeking sea because a clean lake is not flowing in your soul. Leonardo voiced; he only moves towards the perfection of his art whose criticism surpasses his achievement.

Book excerpt: Nora, a character from Henrik Ibsen's play A Doll House, was a model for liberal-thinking Chinese women during the May Fourth Era of the 1920s and 1930s. Nora-like figures appeared often in modern Chinese literature to illustrate the issue of women's emancipation. Casting Off the Shackles of Family explores the reception and transformation of the Nora theme in the works of Lu Hsün, Mao Tun, Ting Ling, and other May Fourth writers. In particular, it uses female heroic journey theories to trace women's pursuit of independence and freedom in modern China.
